Correct me if i'm wrong but don't Tottenham fans always refer to Chelsea fans as " chavs ", that's quite prejudice as i'm sure not all Chelsea fans are chavs. To be fair though i dont actually understand why Tottenham fans refer to Chelsea as chavs as i thought a chav was similar to pikeys ( thieving people that constantly wear tracksuits ) and i thought West London was posh and didn't have many of these chavs, i would of thought chavs would be more likely to come from poorer places like East London or even where the London riots started ( Tottenham ).

Not sure about the crap Chelsea and West Ham inflict upon Spurs at every game as obviously i rarely go to any of Chelsea or West Ham games as i support neither but as i said in my post every club has their idiots and it doesn't surprise me. Was just giving some examples in my post that it's not only Chelsea, i do agree though Chelsea do seem to have a slightly inflated minority as evidented with the fans that also sung them songs about Anton Ferdinand, but Chelsea along with Millwall and West Ham do have a lot of fans that couldn't give a toss about the football and just go to games to cause trouble/uproar due to them clubs being the worst offenders in the days of hooliganism.

  3. If you cannot see the difference between referring to Chelsea fans as Chavs - which is as much based on the fact that it is a mildly insulting term which happens to begin with 'ch' as any specific comment on them as people - and the anti-Semitic vitriol that is aimed at Spurs fans, then I think you may have an issue yourself.
'Chavs' is the equivalent of 'Spuds' or 'Gooners' on this Forum. It may not be very pleasant, but it carries no deeper meaning.

We call them chavs they call us Spuds, they're stupid nicknames and there are no chants with those words sung at games. Even if there were they'd be harmless banter, in no way comparable with the Chelsea fans who disrespected a minute's silence.

I think everyone's over it as a disaster, but it's still a fairly interesting story and a cautionary tale of man's arrogance.
    It's almost a fable.
Unsinkable ship that's not actually that unsinkable, really.

That's unless it was all an insurance job, of course.

Me n my mates came accross some charming gents from Trowbridge on the train to the game who sang "i'd rather be a N than a Jew". The banter that was going on ended at that point as it was getting out of hand & got nasty. There were fathers & sons on the train with the youngest of our group about 13. Then on top of that we had the minutes silence debacle. It was a disgrace. I've been everywhere with Spurs over the years but not come accross filth like the blokes we encountered.

Not to defend the actions of a minority of Chelsea fans (Im not a Chelsea fan and the chanting was a disgrace to human kind) but,

    It surely didnt help that:

    1. The game was scheduled for the evening so (as alluded to earlier) the knuckleheads had an entire day getting tanked up before the game)
    2. The FA offered no compromise to the 6 oclock kick of time which was sure to anger a lot of Chelsea fans who are concerned about the lack of break before the Barca game
    3. The press made a big thing of comments that would otherwise have passed almost unheard of, and drew the entire country's attention to teh fact that Liverpool couldn't play on the 15th April - in spite of the fact that there were too many alternative arrangements to mention that would not have involved making Liverpool play on the 15th. (Chelsea play on Friday/Play the semis on alternate weekends/both play on the saturday etc etc)

Long story short - the minority of Chelsea fans were a disgrace, but the FA did themselves no favours..

As a side note, you could sit amongst the support of any club in the world and be subjected to a numch of melons behaving despicably. By the sounds of it you were unlucky in the immediate vircinity to them, but (being neither a fan of Chelsea or any other premier league club i am very much speaking as an outsider) I would say its very unfair to tar Chelsea fans as a whole as a result of this show of shame.

Yes, because calling somebody a chav is considered a crime under Britain's laws on racial and ethnic discrimination...

Also, I will point something out: £100m of history's opening defence was, in effect, him saying "It was only a few hundred of them doing it." That says more than anything else.

<laugh> seriously? it's called taking the piss, on average chelsea have the richest fans in the league (statistically) and come from one of the poshest parts of west london, it's a piss take, it's not as bad as chelsea fans making gas noises to tottenham fans and countless other jew jokes...

No, i'd put me writing something like that on the GC chatbox to SW6 in between the two <laugh>

And how am I a hypocrite? i was just trying to put in to perspective to this bloke that calling chelsea fans chavs really isn't that bad <laugh> I don't really care what your fans say to Spurs anyway, some see it as very offensive, others see it less, personally i don't really give a ****
