Yeah that's what it should be like. The best way to get rid of racist slurs, is to stop calling them slurs. Black guys use the word niggah all the time. I've heard gay people say the words "*** and proud".

Aslong as it isn't used to be racist and to make people feel lower than you. If it's just casual and the other person is ok with it, there shouldn't be much of a fuss.

People are people, the only difference between us is a slight difference in our genes. Black people are different to white people like little people are different to average sized people.

Tash it doesn't matter what you say about how if they weren't called slurs etc. It isn't going to change, the word '******' (which i ****ing hate) comes from the slave trade to be able to keep them separate in language aswell as color. Black people started using it to, sort of, empower themselves. If they are using it then others will stop.

While i agree that nobody (and everybody ) is different, there are words that cannot be said. You mentioned one earlier.

To be honest, I'm with Tash on this one...If you use a word to be demeaning then it's wrong, otherwise it's just a collection of letters and sounds. Context is key to all offensive language.

As you said about the slave trade, language is used to institutionalise and exult power over others (I THINK it's called hegemony), but if that's not the intention of the language (i.e. a black person referring to me as 'niggah' as a term of endearment) then I see nothing wrong with it!

I was agreeing with your point and saying that just because you have a friend within a certain minority it doesn't give you right to mock them/use slanderous language without backlash. As if i had all of those friends, by that law, it would mean i could call just about anyone anything.
