Hear me out on this one, when you look at the games he played for us and france that's nearly 50 games, i could be wrong on that, and the reasons why he's playing ''poorly'' is because he's tried, he's been playing for us and france, it might be a stupid idea but why not play Fabio, because this time last year he was doing well and the month after he was playing against Barcelona in the champions league league final, i've seen him play for us in the reserves and he's very good and last year as well, he would do well at left-back. I'm not slating our france ibnternational here, just suggesting that he might need a rest that's all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but we are sitting 5 points ahead of City with 4 games remaining, this is hardly the time to be resting players. If we were competing on all fronts as in most other seasons then yes, we could rest Evra and a few other players by rotating them in the odd home game during a week with three matches in it. But compared to previous seasons we have a very sparse fixture list, with a week's break between every match. Evra is not a Scholes or Giggs that SAF feels needs a rest every now and then (and look what happened without Scholes at Wigan), the coaches will have a good look at the players in training and will know if they are becoming fatigued. Additionally, left back is arguably our weakest position in terms of backup. We have very versatile players that can play multiple positions, but not many that would feel that comfortable at left back. Our natural backups would be Fabio (who has only played 15 games this season due to injury) and Fryers, but I have a feeling SAF would probably stick someone else there instead of them if it was a big match like City away or Sunderland away and Evra was injured. Evans has filled in at left back before, but he's been amazing in the center of defence, it would be silly to shift him. Giggs has played a few minutes there after substitutions, but I think we would likely see Rafael move to leftback or Jones/Smalling, rather than someone else in a big match.
Rooney was crap yesterday. Maybe he's knackered as well and should be rested so he's fresh for his end of season break and Euro2012 ban.
Bollocks, im sure he would rather be playing than sitting on the bench. He's certainly payed enough and we need him for the run in.
Regime of slavery, if thats what playing for a football team is then sign me up. We hardly have a congested run in, he's our best left back he needs to play until the title is secured, that's f we manage it.
I agree with what your saying Shwan but right now we need Evra in every game only 4 left I'm sure he will be alright.
Dont you think Fergie would rest him if he thouht for one second Evra wasn't up for the job? But I guess managers like Sir Alex and other have no clue, They should hire you and wrap every player we have in cotton wool. PS its not slavery if they get paid and they get paid more in a week than I will in 10 yrs.
These guys are professional athletes earning £100k+ a week. I don't feel sorry for any of them if they feel "overworked" and if they aren't up to playing week in week out then they're not training hard enough. The average footballer covers around 10km in a match, most of it slowly. 60 games a season is roughly equivalent to 1.6 games a week or 16km. Any doctor will tell you that you, me and every other normal person out there should be exercising for 30 minutes, 4 times a week. A 5km run will take a person of reasonable fitness anything from 20-30 minutes. So if you did a 30 minute work out as a 5km run 4 times a week then you'd be covering more ground than a professional footballer. You won't get paid £100k+ a week for it though and I doubt anyone would feel sorry for you if you said you were a bit cream crackered what with having to work all week and squeezing in some exercise. Messi's played over 60 games for each of the last 4 seasons and he's done OK.
You had a go at Style saying he basically knows better than Fergie when in fact you are saying Fergie is wrong and should rest him. Fergie knows best if Evra needed resting Fergie would rest him. Simple really!! Plus who are you to say Evra is tiring surely only Evra knows that and maybe the fitness coach. Maybe he's not playing as well because he was getting complacent knowing theres no challenge for his slot (which there isn't). It might have nothing at all to do with his fitness your only speculating as there is no hard prove to back your statements up.
