I was thinking about this last night and i must say without me being biased, i think we've got the best wingers in europe, Antonio Valencia - is on form at the moment and would get in to any team, Nani - He's unpredictable when he's on the ball, he can score some cracking goals and help the team, Ashely Young - he's a very good at taking corners something we haven't had since David Beckham, can take free kicks, score goals and his delievery is spot on.

Though we have not been as strong this season in Europe I do think we are one of the strongest teams in the world when it comes to the wings. Trying to think of team that are definitely better than s in this area is hard.
I agree, we have very good wingers that offer a lot of versatility as well, as shwan mentioned. Their work rate is also exceptional, even the players that started off not tracking back (Nani, and Ronaldo before) have improved massively in this respect, credit must go to SAF and the coaching staff for this. However, the team whose wingers I would fear the most has to be Bayern Munich. Robben and Ribery have the ability to destroy any team on their day, and contribute both assists and goals to their team. I'm not sure of their exact stats but Wikipedia states the following: Ribery 2010/11: 32 apps, 11 goals, 21 assists 2011/12: 41 apps, 14 goals, 23 assists Robben (Wikipedia does not include the number of assists for him) 2009/10: 37 apps, 23 goals 2010/11: 17 apps, 13 goals 2011/12: 30 apps, 16 goals Now I would not necessarily swap our wingers for theirs as our players fit our style of play, have a great work ethic and are a lot less injury prone (and much lower wages I'm sure), but I think they would be the most difficult wingers to defend against.
we have true wingers and the best in the world at it. Other clubs have floating wingers/AM who have a free role for the most part. They appear to be wingers but when they are often found in the middle they clearly are not.
That, imo, is more due to the other players Bayern have, or rather that they don't have. Young and Valencia don't drift into the middle so much for us as Rooney is pulling the strings there. Gomez plays further up the pitch for Bayern, so Robben and Ribery get involved a lot more in the middle to link up with him. I guess it depends on your definition of wingers. We probably do have the best out and out wingers in Europe, but then we are arguably one of the few top teams who still play with out and out wingers. Most of the other top teams seem to favour these floating winger / AM / wide striker types, particularly since Barca and Real adopted them.
