    O'Neill: Sunderland won’t sell Sessegnon

Apr 15 2012 by James Hunter, Sunday Sun

SUNDERLAND will resist any attempts to lure Stephane Sessegnon away from Wearside this summer.

Sessegnon has turned heads with a string of impressive performances for the Black Cats this season, and several clubs – including Arsenal and his former employers Paris St Germain – have been linked with the Benin international.

But boss Martin O’Neill said: “I’ve seen comments from other managers speaking highly of Stephane, and that just goes to show how well he has done for us this season.

“But I want to strengthen the side over the summer, and that’s the owner’s viewpoint, too.

“It is certainly the owner’s view that any quality player we have here at the football club, we want to keep.”

We won't progress by selling players like him. So its good to see Ellis backing Marty

For me Sess simply has to stay, unless we start getting to a Tevez situation which SAFC can't afford to risk.

I think Sess wants to stay and its up to us to show him we mean business, the quality of who we go for will tell him all he needs to know.

Agreed - he was one of only a couple of bright sparks in an otherwise dull (football-wise) afternoon on Saturday - However, he did look quite annoyed that people weren't on the same wavelength when he was getting to those positions and lookg for someone to pass to! Same happened against Everton

The way to play alongside Sess is to be able to anticipate what he is going to do and react to it, not to stand and admire what he is doing

I wonder if this is aimed at Gyan too??

I was a massive fan of Gyan until he left, I would only want him back if it came out that he left because of Steve Bruce. If he was for some reason forced out because of Bruce I would welcome him back with open arms. A fit Gyan and Sess would be some combination.
