I'm switched on to it now Josh. It's like a light switching on in your head when you realise just how much energy the club is putting in to the propaganda machine that bates has running 24/7. When it eventually clicks, and it will (I hope it will, despite defending bates on insignificant things that make up for nothing, you are a reasonable bloke with a good head), you'll start noticing these little subliminal messages. Listen very carefully. You'll hear it from... Michael whatshisface who was on that video, you'll hear it from Eddie Gray, Peter Lorimer, Ben Fry, but you won't hear it from Thom Kirwin. He'll evade suggestions that the chairman is terrible but I don't think I've heard him spinning any of the propaganda. A lot of it is very subtle and you have to be looking for it. But it's there. This is the atmosphere that bates has created, this is what is sucking the life out of Elland Road. The power of suggestion.

Josh, Snoddy was absolutely average IMO. Think the match was sufficiently dire that no-one should have got MOM. He probably got it because he performed way, way above expectations. Even I was impressed, which is saying something!
Well that's the thing, a lot of it isn't even subtle. There are subtle extras but the fact that certain individuals such as Lorimer are making it so blatantly obvious that it's the corporate line by clumsily throwing about these ideas that the board want us to get on board with, it makes sense that the rest of the staff are under orders to do the same. They just might be doing it more covertly. They may not even be aware they are doing it, they are just exposed to it so much. I may be looking too much into it, but if I know one thing about bates it's that he's a manipulator, and this is how manipulators work. They twist words and get people thinking the way they want them to think, regardless of how they do it, and before you know it they've got control of things they have no business controlling. Denying the fans the right to an opinion and conveniently omitting certain information that doesn't favour them (such as Snoddy slagging off the board for selling Howson - where did that clip go from the LUTV Lorimer's Bar recording?) is enough to prove it.
aah really. Thought his deliveries were good as well as every chance coming through him. I didn't see the game though (or even listen to it) so I wouldn't know how his 90min performance was. Rogers had a couple good touches there as well before he went off, did he do well? he seems be cursed at the moment

Well that's the thing, he's obviously a weak minded push over and it's not taken much for bates to walk all over him. The way he talks, I honestly believe he has no business acumen at all and has just been completely brainwashed into genuinely believing that the club is being run in its best interests just the way it is. Shaun Harvey is pathetic, but in a different way. I genuinely believe Harvey is the same type of person as bates, he's just not as outspoken, a quieter, meeker person who is just tagging along because it's easy money and he can do what he wants. The thing about Lorimer, every word out of his mouth gets me riled up now. Monday, every other sentence out of his mouth I was wanting to pick up the phone and ring up. The ****ing cretin, he actually said "we've only got one loan player, that's not a lot for any club", in response to someone saying the problem is relying on loans. I was like WELL WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 8 WE'VE HAD THIS SEASON THAT CONTRIBUTED SWEET **** ALL?!?
the guy's a tosser. He has no opinion of his own. Harvey I havn't completely decided on what type of person he is, I just think he's a tight **** and tries to avoid any confrontation of any sort.
Like I said, he's a meek individual, I think he genuinely agrees with bates on a lot of things, and is less of a puppet than a "groupie" if you can call it that. He's just got no spine. He lets bates do all the shouting and f-ing and blinding and just sits there being a stingy twat and offering players 10 quid a week and a KFC bargain bucket for each goal/clean sheet.
Yeah Lorimer is just plain dumb. After the Derby game you had fans ringing in saying the squad wasn't good enough and then you've got Lorimer saying 'well we've brought a lot of players in this year and i can't understand why it hasn't worked'. The fan then responded 'well a lot have been on loan' with Lorimer then trying to make out we haven't been as reliant on the loan market this year with only really Darren O'Dea in the starting 11 and that we've made some big signings. Yet in reality we replaced Gradel initially with Pugh on loan, then directly with Townsend. We brought Smith in to add quality to RB. We replaced Howson with loan. We've also had Keogh and McCarthy on loan covering. Now we've got Warnock's loan players. It's alright getting rid of the likes of Kasper and Higgs and receiving transfer fees and then bringing in 2 keepers just to make the list of arrivals a bit bigger, but end of the day the quality is not there and generally won't be when you make profit on transfers i.e. Kasper and Lonergan.
Thats why paynter has been so keen to put in good performances and score goals. Have you seen how much weight he's lost?
Btw, just for balance, you should be aware that Lorimer actually said he wasn't in favour of the loans system. (during the same radio conversation). Quite opinionated for a yes man! Certainly surprised me to hear him say it. Btw, does anyone know where Eddie is? Lorimer is rubbish on the radio compared to Eddie.
A lot of the crowd around me were passing comment about it. Not only that, he harried endlessly. Loads & loads of energy & enthusiasm. I was expecting him to be stretchered off with exhaustion at half time. He almost got the shirt ripped off his back in the first half, literally, and very generously gave it to a little kid at half time.
It's funny, but I love hearing Eddie on the Radio. He hails from Glasgow, like me, so I like hearing the accent. Lorimer however sounds like ****ing Lulu or Dennis Law. A horrible englified accent. Yuck!
Lorimer is just trying to rewrite history so that he sounds like he knows what he is talking about and glossing over the crap he said (and would deny he said) while Grayson was manager. He is really annoying me, not necessarily because of exactly what he says, but the fact he said opposite stuff and is being completely two-faced and hypocritical. If someone had time, they should look through the Lorimer columns in the YEP from the season and compare them as they went through
Eddie's on his hols. So we have to listen to Lorimer. I think his commentary is fine, he knows how to read a game and gives good info on what the players should be doing and where they are going wrong. His big let down is the phone in, he has his set spiel and gets flustered if someone comes back at him or discusses something outside of his comfort zone. Don't forget he needs Mr Bates to pay (i presume he's paid!) for his gambling and drinking, the sad demise of a great, great player.
