Blackpool Vs Leeds: Overall Record Leeds Wins - 10 Draws - 7 Blackpool Wins - 10 Leeds goals against Blackpool = 48 Blackpool goals against Leeds = 51 The two teams have played just 27 times in the league and the teams have served up 99 goals from 27 matches. Averaging 3.6 GPG. Leeds have only won 3 games at Bloomfield Road from a possible 13. Blackpool sit 5th on 68 points and look good for a play off spot, whilst Leeds sit 12th on 60 points and have nothing to play for. Blackpool are the 4th highest scorers on home turf with 37 goals from 21 home matches. Leeds on the other hand have picked up 30 points on their travels aswell as at home. They stand 7th in the Championship away table. My Prediction: Blackpool 3 - 1 Leeds Opinions?
Wouldn't bank on it Farsley. Should be a good game. We could conceivably sneak this one. But maybe a 2-2 draw is more likely
With nothing to play for, we should be more relaxed. We deserve something out of it after Rahubka's howlers on the reverse fixture...
Why hope I'm right? I hope I'm wrong. A 6-0 victory would give us a false sense of what the team is capable of. They'd be playing well because there's no pressure on, which is a false indication. I want to see how good they really are. A 6-0 hammering of Blackpool will just get bates into full rant mode and he'll give us the whole "it's hard to believe that's the same team that lost to Watford and Derby", before he moves into the "well they were good enough to win 6-0 at Blackpool so they're good enough to keep. We're not getting any one new. Oh btw Snodgrass wants to move on so we're selling him. Not our fault! we offered him a contract and he refused, blame him!".
I'm happy with having had the Peterborough result for the rest of the season provided we at least draw against Leicester. I want to see what the players are really made of, and I don't think a freak result against a very good Blackpool side will be a true representation of what our players are capable of. I want to see some brilliant individual performances, a narrow win would be a nice bonus but not essential, so long as there's a decent shift put in. I want to see Paynter get a goal and keep shining for the rest of the season, but only if he shows the sort of quality we need. As much as I thought he was crap last season, if he was just out of shape and low on confidence I'd love to see him prove he can cut it in a promotion winning side - at the end of the day the fact that he's still here and still determined to contribute is the kind of attitude we want.
I would actually like us to push on and show enough confidence to try and keep the momentum going for the start of next season. You always see that with promoted teams that they keep some momentum going from the previous year. Paynter I can see going regardless of how he performs but then again he is for some reason a likeable player despite his obvious lack of ability. A freak result would be nice because of what they did to us but it wouldn't be an accurate description of the team but I always enjoy leeds beating anyone convincingly so I would still like to see it. Warnock knows what he wants now I think so we are just playing out the season anyway
Christ! I agree with Josh again! I want to win 6-0. Bugger the politics - I just wanna win!! Hasn't happened enough recently.
I can't get on board with that. Although a convincing win would be nice to ease the stress, it's too short term, which is half the problem. The board playing fast and loose with the clubs long term future, instead just winging it and running everything short term. And you just know as well as I do, some ****ty fringe player does well in the last couple of games, bates won't let Warnock get someone better in saying "well he was good enough the last few games", then we'll start the season with a player in the first team who just isn't good enough. Again.
Marko, I don't think a 6-0 stuffing of Blackpool would give us false hope. Warnock knows we're short of a few. But its not all doom & gloom. Clayton/Brown need stiff competition for CM. We need to resolve our RB problem, as Connolly may not be the answer & even if he is, he needs some serious competition. Warnock needs to decide where to play Lees longterm, RB or CB. We have wingers & forwards. Bromby will probably stay, as he also offers us an attacking long throw option as well as being able to play in a variety of places. AOB will probably go given his age. Bruce could also leave & Warnock may decide to retain O'Dea. Still think he might retain Kisnorbo. But given his injury problems, maybe he won't. Some talk of Sol Bamba joining. But time will tell.
If beating Blackpool gives you false hope you want your head checking - it's still the same side that are barely in the top half of the table, and recently lost 7-3 at home to Forest. We know we have a lot of work to do over the summer, but chill out! I want to see us go out there and win as many games as we can from now till the end of the season, simple as that
