Yes, the goal Chelsea scored should never have stood to make it 2-0, we all know that, every fan in the world knows it, no one is even doubting that! lets be honest we never looked like we could win the game, even in the first half when it was even and VDV had that shot cleared off the line, it just looked like we didn't believe we could win, and that is what is so depressing. There are so many "reasons", we could sit here and discuss them all, from redknapp, to formations, to lack of squad, players being played our of positions but a group of players don't lose their way and belief for no apparent reason. the only reason to discuss, is Harry Redknapp, as he was the reason we had such a great start to the season and went to man city being thought of as one of the best teams in the league, which at the time was a match between two teams at the top of the table. Redknapp is the reason we had a tight group of players playing great football, lets not forget we was voted the best team to watch by the managers of this league. Many fans that have a weak understanding of the game make comments like "but its the players on the pitch" It may well be the players on the pitch, but the manager is the person that moulds that teams, give the tactics, creates team morale, gives the players belief and confidence to play their game. This is why we need Arry to be honest and say if he wants the England job, or not, none of this rubbish "I dont even think about it, honest guv". If arry wants to stay at spurs and prove he can build on what he has done and make sure these mistakes dont happen again then come out and say it, as otherwise if he keeps quiet and leaves at the end of the season then he doesn't deserve any respect from us.
I don't know, if playing the victim card serves as a catalyst for the players to rouse themselves for the last few games and get us across the line, it could serve a purpose.
He'll never say that and the FA won't ever say it either. The FA do not care 1 jot about Tottenham - at the end of the season they'll ride in and take HR. The FA will have got their man and **** anyone who gets in their way basically.
I wish it could, that siege mentality but for that to happen, it has to start from the top, from the manager and arry just doesnt look interested or is clueless on how to galvanize these players. I get the impression no matter what is said between games when these players step on the pitch, they believe they will lose the game and that is whats killing us right now and the opposition are playing on it and taking advantage.
Thats obviously why the FA asked managers to stop talking about the England job, because of the "worry" about distracting a teams season. To be fair, the FA can't be blamed for all the press related opinions on arry being the man for the job, the discussing of it on MOTD, but all this uncertainty and lack of togetherness has wrecked our season.
I can't help but feel that Redknapp knows that he's going and he has for some time. I think that the players probably know it, too. There's a lack of motivation throughout the camp, as a load of them probably don't think that they'll be there next season, starting with the manager. What are the playing for, apart from professional pride? Capello throwing a wobbly about that racist prick has screwed our season, basically.
The part which is most annoying, is when players and manager act so calm and relaxed making comments such as "the players don't care if I leave"! or "arrys done a great job, we're still playing for him and good luck to him if he goes" or "arrys done a great job but if he leaves, another manager will come in and carry on the good work" I mean come on, if all these statements were true, the team wouldn't have thrown away all the good work that was done before Capello left England.
To be fair if you look at his history he thinks for No.1 first not the fans. Eg from Pompey to Southampton to Pompey. And also Bournemouth. You guys and West Ham. He probably will skult off.
It worked to our advantage a couple of seasons ago, after Alan Wiley followed his orders about allowing Portsmouth into the FA Cup final to the letter (that is, unless, you subscribe to the theory he taped matches he shafted us in to masturbate over at a later date...), but then again our manager was staying put at the time...
I don't think that anyone's expecting him to stay, Sharpe. If he'd have gone immediately once Capello had resigned, then we might have been able to salvage something from this season. It's hard to shake the feeling that he's essentially poisoned his own good work, though. West Ham sacked him for badmouthing the chairman, by the way and he quit Bournemouth due to health reasons after a car crash, so I'm not sure how they count as looking after no. 1.
I'm not so sure he has. If he goes I think quite a few will follow - a bit like with Rafa for us. Look what happened/is happening when he overspent and left Portsmouth! Also relegating Southampton for the first time in 27 years which took them to League 1 in the end!!
Yeah the relationship does seem to have gone a bit off with him and the fans (from an outsider view). The confidence you had has completely shot and quite a lot of that seems to come from the fact it seems he's playing the game a little but which leaves you bent over. I think he wanted to be the England manager but wanted to leave Spurs on a positive note at the end of the season after a very good year - maybe even the title or second. As thats gone now he unable to achieve that and is perhaps just playing out his days/being forced to consider his options.
You can't blame Redknapp for Portmouth's spending, especially as he more than covered it through sales. Glen Johnson, Diarra, Muntari and various others all went for big money, plus they won the FA Cup and got into Europe. The owners and chairman screwed the club, as they approved all of the spending and seemed to lob on a bunch of debts too, but I doubt we'll ever know exactly what happened. Southampton were on the way out anyway and I think their financial problems stemmed from their move to a new stadium.
True. But the point he jumps ship when things gets tough is also a interesting - and I still think him leaving would put you pack a few steps which will be tough regain in the near future.
True again. But what better options are there? I think a few like Modric, Bale and maybe VDV are at the club because of his influence and stature. If he goes I reckon they might follow.
Who would have seen Redknapp as an option that would've put us in this position, though? It's hard to talk about anyone replacing him, as we have no idea who Levy might choose. If players do leave and they probably will, then we need to get the best deals that we can and use the money wisely. We've made a large profit on transfers this season, so we should have a decent amount to invest in the summer. Hopefully we'll have somebody capable of assembling and managing a large squad, as that's Redknapp's greatest area of failure.
Basically Harry has built a great squad, that is what he is good at and we should thank him for that. Thank You Harry! I am not convinced that having assembled it Harry knows how best to use it and I have always been astounded by his constant media outpourings many of which are to the detriment of the club and it's players. IF he was a great manager he would have realised his limitations a long while ago and found himself a proper right hand man. That is exactly what SAF has done at United, he realised tactics were not his strong point, especially in his early days and employed people who were good at it. In other words he Managed the club. Harry for me has done a half a job and that's why the results from this squad are only half as good as they should be. If he takes the England job he will be seriously found out and it will be a sad way for him to finish his long career. Spurs was his chance for greatness, and he's blown it.
Not really - Bale was signed when Jol was in charge, and Modric when Ramos was in charge. In the cases of Modric and VDV, it was Daniel Levy that signed them, not Ramos or 'Arry. Should 'Arry go, I don't expect a mass exodus that some are predicting, especially if we bring in a top manager who will show the club's ambition (for the sake of argument, let's say Louis Van Gaal) - the only player likely to leave then is Defoe, based on the idea he's one of Harry's Favourites (sort of like how Peter Crouch was last season) The players most likely to leave in the summer are Gallas, Jenas, Bentley, Gomes, Dos Santos, Bassong, Alnwick and Obika. But you won't ready speculation of their departures...
