hit the post, cleared off the line now the ref awards a goal for a ball that could not possibly be seen to cross the line. And as I write Spurs score and Chelsea goalie lucky not to go off. If Spurs hadn't scored it would have been a penalty and Chelsea down to 10 men. 2-1 Chelsea. Come on you Spurs.
Is that Wigglesworth promoted to be a referee? I notice that Steve Claridge reminded us of a "ghost goal" on the Football League Show last night. What on earth was he talking about?
could you imagine if that goal or rather no goal happened against man u ferguson would have forced the fa to have a replay .absolute disgrace ,but it always happens to spurspedro mendes goal a few years ago at old trafford was so far over the line it landed into the next season and still wasnt given
gutted for spurs, not a tottenham fan myself but its a real pity, they were doing well until the terrible decision changed the game....technology thoughts?
It doesn't even need technology does it Jose. A quick replay of what everyone else gets to see from their armchairs would solve 99.99% of the problems. All it would take is for the ref to consult a fourth official who has access to the TV. Seconds it would take. No point consulting the linesmen. They hardly ever see anything (well apart from one we won't mention who was obviously "seeing things").
Credit to the assistant referee. He didn't guess that the ball had crossed the line when his view was obscured. Generally speaking the linesman have been abysmal recently. Even today Lennon had a good rant about the ref giving a penalty against Celtic and conveniently forgetting the Celtic goal should have been ruled offside.
Apparently Bill Turnbull said yesterday that Terry should have admitted to the ref that it was no goal. Enough said.
