Why on Earth is FA Cup Final Day on the same day as the end of The Football League Season? So I'm going to have to miss it? Of course I would rather see Chris Powell lifting the Championship title than that smug Racist Rapist (and that's not someone who rapes racists although I bet he would) John Terry kissing the FA Cup but it's still absolutely ridiculous planning. Who does the FA think watches the Cup Final? This might be the only thing I feel strongly enough about to riot.
Only the lower divisions, Championship finishes the week before, probably an early Cup final because of the Euros, have never watched it myself as I think cup competitions are pointless.
Never, not interested in any cup competitions, think they detract from the league, league is the only thing I care about, cup games are nothing but glorified friendlies, I doubt any proper football fan cares about cup games, the cup final is just for non-football followers as the one game a year they watch on TV, same as Wimbledon, Grand National or the boat race, this is a fact and anyone who disagrees is a hummus sniffer.
You can count me as a hummus sniffer nutnut along with most real football fans. There is a magic to the F A cup, even if it is being fought between chelski and the pool. I wouldnt want to miss it but because of the the way the modern game is a tool in the TV ratings war I may have to. I will be at the valley though, that dsy is to good to miss
I am a lover of the cups tbh there's nothing wrong with a good cup run and they always provide good days out for the lower league team, fulham this year is and example for us. Also for teams who have no chance of winning the league i.e the stokes and evertons of this world this gives them a chance to win some silverware. Plus who as fans wouldn't want to see their team win a trophy at wembley? I for one would love it.
I wish we'd won the Painter's & Decorator's while we were in L1 . . . .... . . . ..... ... . Sorry but I have a cold again and don't know what I'm saying
There is a magic about the cup - only got to look at our support at Fulham this year - fantastic . Anybody who doesnt is a cell short of a brain. I have a feeling that the Cup Final is being played after the league games though - at 5 or 6 i think, so you'll be able to get home or down the booza in time for the Final
The kickoff isn't much after the L1 and L2 games finish, and of course (well probably) we have the small matter of a trophy celebration as well!
Charlton should show the cup final on the big screen after we've had our presentation and lap of honour. I'd stay and have a few beers. Bet there's a hundred reasons why they can't though!
I have to be honest, I stop caring about every cup once Charlton go out of the competition. I really couldn't give a two turds about Liverpool vs Chelsea, or Man United vs Everton or Wigan vs Arsenal or any games like that. For me, the magic of the cups come from two things: a) Non League teams many people have never heard of coming up against League opposition. b) Lower League teams travelling to Premier League clubs.
WWOCB - for once, i sorta agree with you. My interest in the Cup does wane siugnificantly once we are knocked out - however, the Final is something else, and is part of the Heritage of this country. My earlier days were spent round the TV watching the final with my family, and it was turned into a national jewel - its been downgraded a lot by foreign managers playing 11 reserves and not treating it with the respect it deserves- and this is simply, i believe, due to the fact that the equivaklent competitions frpom their respective home countries doesnt and didnt have the same heritage re the cup
