I think Leon has got it for me.... I have also liked Taylor And Rangel...Both at some points have cost us goals...Rangel more so at the start of the season, but has improved, in strength and pace. I dont think Sig should get it- half a season........ For me, between Leon, Allen, and Dyer
I can understand that but Siggy's short stay makes his contribution even more remarkable imo. I genuinely think we'd be much closer to the relegation zone (if not IN it) had it not been for Siggy. Can't say that about many players.
Leon for his pure constistancy , I can't think of many games where he's come up short (and no pun intended )
Yes , but when you looking at player of the season surely it must be for the entire season ? If it was the player who made the most impact I would say it was siggy
Siggy is probably the most important player in the team at the moment, but if we consider the whole season then i'd plump for Leon, his accuracy, speed, commitment and work-rate have been outstanding, his clever link up play always seem to create an extra half-second on the ball for those team mates around him, making them more effective players. Vorm runs him a close second as his early season form saved a lot of valuable points, but he needs to work on his set pieces. Caulkers impressed me as well, he was really uncomfortable on the ball in his first few games, but in recent months has been making some surging upfield runs whilst displaying a deftness of touch that few players of his size enjoy. Dyer too was outstanding, terrorising defences before the dodgy red card.
Tell you, what give to them all , they all deserve recognition, it summed it up for me yesterday when at the end of the game they all got in a huddle in the centre ,that performance and result meant a lot more than just the points.
Bit early for me to make my judgement on player of the season. The contenders Vorm, Leon, Ash & Siggy.
I think it has to be Vorm...everyone in our preferred 11 and has arguably had a great season. Sinclair maybe has had a bit of a shock in jumping up a level but to be fair i didn't expect him to put a ton in like last season - for a winger, he hasn't done too badly goal wise and he's overall had a decent season. Honourable mentions for me would go to Britton, Allen, Dyer and Graham. On Graham, for his first season in the prem since he was a young player he has played well and although he struggled early on he had a very good mid-season - tailed off recentley but then again he's had very little service recentley. Britton and Allen have been first class and Dyer has probably adapted a bit better than Sinclair, and although he's waned a bit lately Ash is...well, he's Ash. Routledge has been a good signing, Luke Moore has done much better than I expected when he's played and Monk has done well not to be torn apart every time he's played in the abcense of Williams or Caulker. That said, a new CB for next season of course is a must when Caulker is gone - I can't see Monk or Tate playing 38 games! And of course there is Siggy, who I really rated when he was at Reading but I didn't see him being such a massive influence for us...so glad I was wrong! I will say though that I was a little dissapointed with the goalkeeper signings at the start of the season - Vorm was a coup and although they might not have known it at the time I think it may have been a wase to sign both Moirera and Tremmel. Maybe next season we should give Moiera a run as the backup if he stays? Also a little dissapointed we haven't had an opportunity to try out McEarhan but Chelsea's whining concerning us not playing him was a bit petty...
This is a tough one passittohim, and your spot on to start it with a toss up between Joe and Leon! I've given this some considerable thought, and while I'm leaning towards Leon, there are other special factors this season that brings in two other players, and that is Dyer and Vorm, if we are going on consistency then Leon wins it, but if we are going on any one contribution to our cause of staying up this season, then that must surely go to Michel Vorm, yes maybe he's dropped his outstanding form in one or two games, but our defence left him exposed in a number of games, where he didn't half gather points for us, so in conclusion it's my view that Vorm has to be the player of the season, he must have surely been worth 15 points minimum to our success! Michel Vorm for me...............
At this stage its too close to call as described above the contenders for me are Vorm, Leon, Ash & Siggy.
Vorm for me although there have been many fine performances by the lads, Vorm has been a standout performer for me
Of course! He's put in some class peformances for us this season, no idea why I didn't say that before
OK, Aswan, off the fence it is but not yet........ Will wait until the end of the season to get a fuller perspective. However, my present candidates are Vorm, Leon, Ash, Caulker, Allen, Graham, Taylor, Rangel, Dyer, Sinclair. I have omitted Siggy purely because he has not played anything like a full season. But he certainly deserves huge recognition, if not an award, for making the biggest impact.
Ivor you must have splinters in your rear end. I do have a tendency to agree with you as it's a team game and we have performed way beyond my expectations.
