They talk about contact being made, yet constantly bang on about Suarez. I ask...could they find one of Suarez's dives where absolutely no contact was made? I doubt it.

There you go. We should have had a penalty there. Will you all stop whining now?

    Young's dive of today.

Discraceful. I no longer welcome him in the England squad.

He looks like he would do better than De Gea in goal though.

I'd rather piss in the Community Shield, thanks <ok>

Looking at it objectively, Utd have been the best team in the league thus far this season. The table doesn't lie.

As for whether Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool performed at their 'expected' levels, then that clearly depends on the level you 'expect' them to perform at. Personally, I expected better from Chelsea, but didn't expect City to be anywhere near as good as they have been - I expected Chelsea would be challenging and City 4th rather than vice versa. I expected Arsenal to get third, and I think they've performed better than most expected give their summer losses. As for Liverpool, I predicted they'd finish 6th, so their relative level of underperformance versus expectations has no bearing on the top of the table whatsoever <ok>

To me it looked like a penalty from the ref's angle cos it looks like Collins catches Young's ankle. But then again I thought it was a penalty when Carrick caught Murphy's ankle against Fulham, and when Rio caught Adam's ankle at Anfield in the league. All three had minimal contact, but all three involved contact with the ankle which imo is a foul, albeit a soft one.

He is having a shocker tbf. Didn't stop the play, missed Given's handball outside the box, missed the handball from the Villa player, and hasn't looked particularly comfortable all day. Read an article recently about the level of fatigue refs face - they run further than any of the players and there are only 16 refs vs the average PL squad of 25. Wonder if the errors and poor performance in recent weeks have been down to refs being too tired? Not to mention demotivated after getting abused every time they make a mistake...

Not just recruiting, they need to do some training too. See my article here:

    http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...ecisions-get-made?highlight=referees linesmen

Today was an ideal example. Rooney played pretty poorly all game, gave the ball away three or four times and apart from his goals didn't do much. Yet no one bats an eyelid, and he gets a standing ovation for a penalty and a simple finish. The ref, who receives much less training or professional coaching, makes a couple of contentious decisions and everyone says its not good enough.

Or vs QPR - the linesman, who is basically an untrained part timer who was quite good at it in the past, makes a mistake and everyone sticks the boot in. The entire QPR team plays **** and the collective view is "they'll probably do better next week, they can't play well every time".

It's insane to expect the officials to perform to a higher level than the players when they get much less training and support, and in the cases of the linesmen get practically nothing.
