If we got an offer for Fryatt, would you sell him?

There are only 13 players who have scored more in this division this season despite being in a team are 5th lowest scorers away and 5th lowest scorers at home. I'd suggest keeping FRyatt and changing the way we play.

Anyway, I think the decision will be out of our hands.

I know we've had a fair few more games than them, but considering the amount of times we've failed to score, it must be pretty depressing for Liverpool fans that even we've scored more than them <laugh>

Not that they'd notice, in all fairness.

i like fryatt but when you think about the number of oppurtunities hes missed this season, its depressing where we could be.
yes , hes one of two regular scorers, and the likes of brady, stewart should definately chip in more, but without even thinking too hard i can remember about 20 glaring misses all going back to the blackpool game on the 1st day of the season, thats why i dont buy this lack of service talk....
ive just mentioned it another thread, but that chance early in the second half yesterday was ridiculous, perfect through ball , there to be hit and once again he tries to take 2 touches too many and doesnt even get a proper shot in, those chances are the difference between play offs and not..
id like to keep him as a back up striker or an option, but would like us to try and find somebody to push him....

the problem has been that the likes of Brady, Stewart, Mclean et al haven't been chipping in with any goals and this has put added pressure on Fryatt.. had others scored we'd have grabbed more goals with Fryatt getting on the score sheet once the game had opened up...

Sad to say but for all his endeavour as a goal scorer Mclean has been a very poor investment and will probably move on should we get a half decent offer for him (Brighton?)

11 players got 15 or more in the championship last season. 12 the season before. just 6 in 2008-9. 8 in 2007-8. 10 in 2007-7.

10 so far this season including vaz te and marlon king.

Fryatt and Koren as our strike force next season could work.

I would change things though. I would play a diamond midfield next season. Mckenna the holding player, Cariney and Evans and then Koren just behind the front 2. Get a target man in to play alongside Fryatt. No width but our wide players have been mostly rubbish this season.

Sell him to replace him, not just sell him and leave it as it is!

I would have made him available at Xmas (I posted that); he might have been more settled and we could have got a player with the right ideas for how we play. No guarantees on who we would get or whether or not he would score the goals needed, but Fryatt had shown he had run out of ideas. It is not necessarily his fault, as Barmby's tactics do confuse talents with systems, but we needed goals and we did not get them.

Fryatt is a grafter and I totally respect him as a player, but first and foremost he is a striker. Having said that he is not the only under-performing striker in the squad. Barmby should have kept his hand in until the end of the season - I honestly think that was a major mistake as he makes a hell of a difference off the bench.

How could he have become more settled if he'd been put on the transfer list?

What do mean by a someone who 'has the right ideas for how we play'?

How had Fryatt 'run out of ideas'?

'Barmby's tactics do confuse talents with systems,'?

Your reasoning and observations are utterly incomprehensible

I'd keep him, just because this clown thinks we shouldn't. <ok>

Fryatt is one of our best players, he just needs better service.

hes had service all season, i doubht any striker in the championship has had more chances provided for him..
hes had 10 chances in the blackpool/west ham/watford games for starters, thats without even thinking about it...
i know at times weve looked clueless going forward, but 99% of any chances that we have managed to create have fallen to him...its true he is the best weve got, but im afraid thats why we are 10th and not 6th..

They don't lose every game. They have had a good season.

I actually think the opposite. He doesn't like playing on his own but his strengths are running, chasing, harrying, etc. and that's what he does in this system. I think it suits him fairly well.

I think too much emphasis is placed on which players score goals. It sounds weird but I think the only players that applies to are centre backs who you expect to get a few a season from set peces and if like this season you hardly score from a set piece all season there is something wrong, but you see good teams rely on one player for their goals and you see teams who have a wide spread of goals, it doesn't matter at all who 'chips in'.

I think dj hits the nail on the head (most people will already know my view on this). I think his overall game is good but his finishing is poor.

He's the best striker we have at the moment and certainly the best for the system so no I wouldn't sell him, I'd hold onto him and Cullen, get rid of McLean, Simpson and Adebola (because Nick obviously doesn't like them) and sign one more who can play on his own and shoot.

It seems 50/50 for keeping or selling Fryatt, I still think the lack of goals is not down to the midfield but more to do with inept strikers and if a player can only play in one kind of system what kind of use is that to a team. Like I said before, where were the goals coming from when we needed them in that run for the play-offs v Pompey and Cov and why has Barmby left both Mclean and Fryatt out at times? Get shot and use the money to get some fresh blood in up front, Josh King would be a nice start.

Fryatt's our top goalscorer. Who would we replace him with? And if we couldn't replace him, who would take his place up front given the squad we have? The whole concept is ludicrous in the position we are in. We would have to have somebody lined up who was already better than Fryatt who in my opinion is one of the best in the league.

I'd keep him, I know he is fustrating at times but he's one of our main goal threats, not often in recent years we've had someone in double figures for goals! If we got a good offer for him from someone then we'd probably sell him but I can't see that happening. We do however need to get a couple of strikers in over the summer.
