It was a tactical defeat. We're lulling them into a false sense of security for next season.

Was quite surprised at the 'boring Swansea' tag that was dumped on us by the posters at the start of this thread - but was heartened by the response from the Norwich lads in the latter part.

We have no control over what the media says, so please don't blame us! Yes, we seem to be the media darlings at the minute, the same media that said we would go straight back down to the Championship at the beginning of the season!

To be honest I am getting a little fed up with people criticising our possession game - I admit that against QPR we were dire, but today we played the same possession game and it worked beautifully. We can't afford £10 million players and have to play to our strengths - keeping possession, drawing the opposition out of position and then striking when the opportunity is there. Today it worked, as it has on countless occasions this season.

And again, it was the media that came up with the 'Swancelona' tag and most of us Swans are pretty p**sed off with it – yes we try to play the same way – give us a couple of £100 millions and we may be as successful! ;)

Can understand why some of your fans are upset about the amount of coverage we are getting given the excellent season you are having but please don’t blame us for that – it’s the media for God’s sake – they praise us at the minute, but they would be equally happy to condemn us if given the chance!

I admire the way Norwich have played this season and would hope that you could give us the same credit! Have a lot of time for time for you Norwich lads – we both play an entertaining brand of football and, as new boys, were given little chance of success by the ‘experts’ in the media! We have proved them wrong – we have proved that you don’t need to spend a fortune to succeed in this league – you just need 11 guys who are prepared to play as a ‘team’ – not 11 overpaid individuals – a team of players who are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the success of their club.

So please don’t hate us because the ‘great and good’ in the media have decided that we are the ‘flavour of the month’ – that can change in a heartbeat! Just celebrate the fact that we are both going to play each other again next season in the Premier League – whatever the detractors say, I still believe it is the best league in the world, and we are both still a part of it!

So f**k the media – who cares who is manager of the season (think Pardew will win it if NUFC qualify for the Champions League BTW – but also think Lambert and Rodgers would be deserved winners). We have both had a season that has surpassed our expectations and I am as proud of my team as you must be of yours! We were the new boys who were given no chance of survival against the big spenders – we haven’t bought our way to success, we have achieved it with a squad of honest professionals who play as a team, and play for the team!

So good luck Norwich – hope we finish above you, but if we don’t will be the first to congratulate you – has been an amazing season for both of our great clubs and we can both look forward to another season in the top flight! How F***ing good is that! <cheers>

If we let man city play like that against us we would have been pasted too. simple as !

You`re a good team like us and will evolve into a better team next season too with experience and extra money wisely used .

To be quite honest most of the lads on here have a lot of respect for Swansea, the way you play and how the club is run, and the majority of posts over the last few months since I've been following not606 have been, on the whole, positive.

It should be pointed out that the difference in the results of Norwich and Swansea against Man City lies in the tactical set up of the two teams.

But don't let that get in the way of the tit-for-tat.

I must admit it does my head in some times the way our team play, but thankfully it's the exception rather than the rule, and I've not missed a game in years! when we play our passing game offensively with pace, it's a delight and works well, but when we decide to play deep and negative, in the mold of Sousa, it's painful to watch, I know because I had to endure it for a whole season under Sousa, and very rarely did he take the shackles off, and let our boys play, and for whatever reason Rodgers moves to the defencive Sousa style on times which our boys don't really like, and that's what happened at QPR! Best of luck for the rest of the season, and by the way, we are going to finish above you!.....

I started this thread and meant it when I said I have nothing against Swansea. They are probably my second favourite side in this league. I love the sides who outdo expectations and give the big boys the odd nose bleed.

My question was, is there something I am missing? Is there a gap in my football knowledge? I respect the fact that Swansea have stuck by their beliefs and played their game regardless and have made it work. It is just that for me, I would like to see a little more endeavour if it were my team. Swanea's style is to play constant low risk passes until the opponent get frustrated and make a mistake and give them a chance. Yes it works, but I would just find it a little difficult to watch week in week out.

I think you have probably captured the gist of my op. The passing style is the best to watch as a fan as long as it is producing excitement. I have seen great examples of this from Swansea at times and as I don't watch them every week I guess I may have been unlucky and caught some of these defensive displays.

As a fan of NCFC I know only too well how MOTD can disguise the merits of a game when showing highlights, but the Swans, last night, appeared to be passing in a forward direction mainly, when they had the ball! It didn't look like 'tippy-tappy' keepy bally at the back!

I really like Swansea however, they only have plan a and if you press them high up the pitch they tend to make mistakes. They were a little more direct on the weekend and they will need to continue to add to that to push on. Sigurdsson is class.

I find Barca quite boring to watch at times. Watching defenders taking ages passing it out from the back is just not exciting

"My question was, is there something I am missing? Is there a gap in my football knowledge?"

Obviously, yes. We are what we are. Possession football can be tiresome at times but it wears the opposition down. Norwich did very little wrong yesterday but you allowed City to play. We kept the ball away from them and they became more and more petulant and frustrated. They just weren't used to it.

Works against some teams but not others. The Toon were far more patient, let us keep it and then hit us on the break. Cisse had three chances and took two (one of them will probably be in contention as finish of the season imo). Yesterday we demolished Blackburn using the same tactics as we've used in every other game. But for the OP to criticise us when a huge number of your goals have come from far post crosses to the two lumps that are Holt and Morison is frankly a bit rich.

I think it's obvious that Norwich fans are frustrated at the praise heaped on Swansea and feel they've been neglected. Yet every time I've watched MOTD you've been praised by the pundits, and rightly so. I really can't understand your problem. Both teams have done remarkably well.

I agree with this their Welsh the media are likely to love them same if they were Scottish or Northern Irish, from London the North West, North East there are certain regions the media love just switch on the TV and listen to accents, or the coverage on national 6 o'clock news.

Let's put this Swansea business to bed they mean absolutely nothing to me, their just another team.

This plan a thing you describe has got us to where we are, 1 point behind you and I think 8 goals less scored for the ones who say we don't or can't score. We have left in far fewer though than you. It was Brendan who said there is no correct way to play the game, results will determine your fate.

Also talking about plan a's and that, what about stoke ? They play one way, think it can be said successfully, should they change things because they been found out ? What does found out mean anyway, is it leaving six goals in a game ?
