An honest question chaps and I appreciate there are loads of variables to navigate first but what are your aspirations next year in terms of league performance?

I can honestly see you in the top 8 along with us.

6 points at the SDA and a nice Bucks Fizz song to end it...

If that is not possible along with C/L football, guess a decent top half finish will do.

I think it's easier to predict Sunderland than Newcastle, I see us top 8 with the right summer signings.

Newcastle are a lot harder, can they keep their best players? Can they continue where they left off and how will Europe affect them?

I honestly dont know the answer to any of those questions.

Hopefully a stable season with another decent cup run, think we may end up 9th to 7th next season.

All depends on how we finish this season. The team have certainly been inconsistent of late so that certainly needs addressing. Progress for me would be getting to 55points and a decent cup run

Sounds about right to me ! It would be incredibly difficult to get much higher than 7th.

A tough one with respects to us. If players do leave, all I hope is that we replace them with better.

    Progress is all relevant.

Progress for us back in December was just to survive this season but now that MoN has achieved this with 7 or 8 games to go, some are having a go at him for a few poor results like Everton, WBA and yesterday.

I think a careful summer of improvement in personnel (not wholesale changes again) and a steady, consistent run over the 38 games, coupled with a couple of good cup runs, would constitute a decent season. A top 7 or 8 finish should be our goal and a good attempt at European football. I expect to see us much more capable of seeing out the season than we have done under previous managers and make the SOL a fortress again. I want to see more pace throughout the team and under a superb manager like Martin O'Neill, I know ambition for success will be paramount.

As for the craas, they have really excelled this season and already we have seen the delusional comments from many posters about how they are now competing with the Man Utd's, City's and the like now, for top honours. Those fans will need to see top a top 4 finish and semi finals/finals for improvement I'd guess. Good luck on that one.

However, not all barcodes are as thick as a whales arse and they realise that hanging on to their better players and maintaining this seasons form, without significant investment, will be difficult. They have surprised the league this season but can they do it again next season? They fully deserve the plaudits this year but now the bar is set way up high now by their fans and its not guaranteed that they can carry it on.

Whatever happens though, NE football is on the up for sure and next season should be a real humdinger

Where have you seen a toon fan say we're now competing for the league next season? <laugh> Personally, if we have a poor season next year I don't really mind, would rather come 6th then 12th and have a European adventure than come 9th twice, Just my opinion.

Have a word with ChappedArse kidda, as he no longer sees us as your rivals but rather has his eyes set firmly on the top 4 or 5 clubs? I know he is a bell end but he's not alone in that thinking.

Will make next season very enjoyable for us if it doesn't quite work out for you?

    I agree about your 6th/12th than 2 x 9th's though.
