Bear with me, its all about the Premier League this year, we have always had a top, middle and bottom but this year the points stand out.

Gap between 6th and 7th........................................10 points

Gap between 7th and 14th........................................5 points

Gap between 14th and bottom three..........................13 points

    So my questions are..

    1. Are the top 6 10 point better teams than the rest?

    2. Are the middle group that close?

    3. Are the bottom 3 13 points worse than the rest?

Yes I know the table says they are so they must be but, is this a freak year or are the gaps at the top and bottom growing and the middle becoming much of a muchness.

Just for fun so lets not fall out when the brethren arrive from over the hill. <badger><peacedove><badger>

I think the top 6 are getting better, however any team can beat anyone on any giving match.

With regards to the bottom 3 - my answer is yes. They are 13 points worse than the rest - hence why they are down there.

The middle are all similar in squads and talent IMO. Hopefully next season we can push into the top 6.

The top 6 are that much better..i hate to say..

As for the rest, nah don't think so....

Now my plan to top it all off for the seasons final match would be to try and make as many derbies as possible....

Top six should be much better than they are, the middle group should be much better than the bottom group, the bottom group is about right though.
All in all the league itself is starting to even out I think which can only make it a much better contest than it was over the last 10 or so years, where one team would win it by about February.

Got to disagree, no disrespect to them but I don't think newcastles squad is anywhere near as good as Chelsea or spurs, I know the table doesn't lie but maybe what that shows is that the gap is getting smaller, I think with the exception of city, the premier league has lost some of its best players recently, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Mascherano, tevez effectively leaving, I still think that the top 6 have stronger squads but they aren't as good as they were and Newcastle have managed to cash in at a transitional time for a lot of the bigger teams, fair play to them but I would highly expect the top teams to throw some serious money this summer

Newcastle have had an amazing season. Comparing their relative squads they shouldn't be anywhere near Europe, but they are. Well played to them.
That said I honestly believe we'll finish above them again next season.

Talking of the Sunday Supplement -- Bruce is on Sky's football show right now - just waiting for him to spout his usual drivel about being sacked for being a Geordie!

The league table never lies! We have been fortunate (some might say) that certain squad players have stepped up and performed out their skin. Players like Perchy, Raylor, Simmo etc who would not get near the top 5 or 6. However we have players who would waltz into the top few as well. We have cashed in on a transitional period but then again so have Spurs. Can we maintain it? I think so. Getting Europe will allow us to sign a better quality of player than we previously thought possible which could help us remain in the top 6. Lolerpoo have some serious work to do and I believe the gap is too large from the others (including you guys)

The top has been poor, with teams dropping points (that they would expect to take 3) left right and centre.

The middle is and bottom are probably about wheere they should be. Teams stand a decent chance of taking points off one another, depending on form etc. Although the bottom teams, with less quality, are quite rightly less likely to gain points.

That said, any team that could put together a consistent good/bad run of form could have easily seen them in a higher or lower part of the table even if they have a team too good or bad for that position. Middle placed teams could easily have won 3 and drawn more than they have done, without it seeming out of the ordinary.

If Bruce says he was sacked for being a Geordie it will be the first time he has said it.

We have taken 4 points of City, where-as Wolves have taken 4 points of us.......

Anyone's guess what can happen throughout the course of a season....

OK Syd - maybe he hasn't put it quite that way but he's been spouting that the crowd turned against him for being a Geordie !

what he said is that when it started going wrong his Geordie roots became an issue with a minority of the fans and they did.

I was from a vey early point a BoBer but the chanting at the home game against Wigan about him, 'fat geordie bastard get out of my club' said more about us than him'.

Although I was not unhappy with the result cos' he left!

Interesting facts Syd. It's one of those where we I'll only really be able to tell when the FIFA fair play rules kick in and things settle down. I can see a top 8 developing next year too.

To be fair, Bruce was unlucky...

To be born that ****ing ugly.

We were simply too big for him, he will do an ample job at a decent, smaller club.

    I wish him well.
