Unfortunately, and not his fault, but Kimi's disastrous end, from 2nd down to 14th, was perhaps more a kick in the teeth than a pie in the face.
He wasn't even considered as a named driver on the poll list, was relegated to 'others'! Talk about being an underdog! Custard pie in the face for genji!?
I thought Grosjean was on a three-stopper. But had Kimi pitted for another set of tyres he'd have probably still got a reasonable chunk of points, the team really should have seen that coming.
The Mercedes pit error was a great shame for his team, but it is the sort of possible error which cannot be completely eliminated. It was a contender, but it was not the 'custard pie' deserved by Räikkönen, who's decision to stay out after falling off the tyre cliff, is difficult not to call plain stupid. Therefore, it goes jointly to Räikkönen and his Lotus team.
