I like Fryatt as a player, but he isn't suitable in the formation Barmby wants to play 4-2-3-1. So would you keep him? Or would you look at signing players to fit the formation? Fryatt works better in a front 2.
Sell him and get some new players in, even untried ones if necessary, we might get a surprise and get players who can adapt to different tactics and formations.
I agree, I watched Swansea playing the same formation as us last night on MOTD - it's like a parallel universe! They break with pace and always seemed to have 4 or 5 players in the box. It was refreshing to watch the formation 'working' when players that can play the positions asked of them. We haven't. We've very much got square pegs and round holes. We need to resolve the central midfield axis - great players Evans and McKenna, but for me the defensive styles of the 2 players kills our attacking ambitions. You need one player to fulfil that role, push the other midfielder further up the pitch to support attacking play.
Swansea are a revelation as a team, love watching them play. Nicky has the same football ethos as Rogers I think and it will be nice to see him get players in who can do what he wants.
Well I hope that there are a lot available on free transfer cause I reakon that is the only place we will be doing business in the summer
Unless we generate revenue by selling first. I think there are good players to be had free. If we can couple that with cash from sales then we'll be in great position to strengthen.
I love watching Swansea play but what is the point of having 80% of the possession when you loose 2-0 or 3-0 every game.
Swansea are in the first season of playing in the top tier for a long long time. They have stayed up with ease in the end. What part of that do you suggest has meant they have lost 2-0 and 3-0 all season
100% Keep, ditch the formation and go all out to find a younger Steve Howard type for his partner, Rob Hulse?
Got to keep him. Koren goes and where are the goals going to come from? Despite what a few on here think there really aren't that many strikers at this level who will bag around 15 a season. We need to find someone to come in and replicate Fryatt's return, not sell the only striker we have who actuallty scores goals. Hopefully Barmby will bring in players to compliment the style of play he wants and as a result we'll score more goals. Fryatt could easily turn into a twenty a season striker, that's probably being a bit optimistic but the sun is shining and I feel quite chipper today. UTT.
I wouldn't get rid of Fryatt, I personally feel sorry for him, he is not getting the service that he deserves. However, I think it is an absolute must that we get a new striker in. We have to show ambition like Barmby said and I would like Fuller from Stoke, the season that Stoke got promoted (with us) Fuller scored 15 goals ( the same as Campbell) and is not currently playing very much in the Premier League.
I'd like us to sign Steven Fletcher at Wolves - but that won't happen. He could play the lone striker role.
He's our top goal scorer, so i'd keep him. Swansea will just end up going down the route we took i reckon. They might have more seasons in the top flight than us, but doesn't mean it's all successful- just look at Wolves this year, it;s been a nightmare for them.
Difference between Swansea and us is their wingers. Sinclair has scored 7 and Dyer has 5. Compared to us though, Brady has 3 and Stewart has 2. For me that's the difference, simply as.
Reality check for Norwich too yesterday. Once the adrenalin stops and other teams figure them out, the end is nigh.....
I wouldn't sell Fryatt no.Selling the only man capable of putting a chace away would be just plain suicidal. But i do think he will be leaving anyway. That pause before saying "i don't really want to answer that" to Mr Burns question about him putting his house up for sale, was telling. And that critisising of the teams tactics in the Fail, isn't the best way of staying on your managers good side. So i think he'l go,which is a worry when you are being told that there will be little in the way of funds for summer signings. When you think about possible replacements,i always come the reality, that goal scorers cost a lot of money. How much will we get for him ? Will it be enough to get a better one ?
Really? They are on 43 points. They've scored more goals than Liverpool this season. They've taken 11 points from their last 10 games. If that was all through the season they would still be outside the relegation places as it stands now. They have a good manager, and a decent hard working team who sit in 11 th place. More likely Man City just clicked on the day and the chances all went in.
