To be fair, he knows what's going on behind the scenes better than we do. And the subs of Maxi and Bellamy was a good decision by him, so his decisions won us the game in the end.
Read it on another thread and i have to agree It could be with Reina being out that Kenny wanted Carra at the back to captain the back 4,does not take away that Carra was at fault for the first goal Even though that Carra has done so much for our club,he should hang his playing boots up and start concentrating on coaching at the end of this season
In carras defence (no pun intended) we only conceded one and apart from a couple of tricky moments the blues had very few clear cut opportunities. They've been playing well recently and looked like they had just back into a bit of scoring form. Granted the goal was a gift but I hardly think Carra can take all the blame for it when Aggers standing next to him doing his impression of Heather Mills performing the Can Can.
I think what that showed was Carra of old, I would have heard him through the TV say "MINE **** OFF!" but he is losing it a bit and probably not as confident sitting the bench most of the season, coming in and making some mistakes, etc. Either way we won and I hope COates gets more chances and Carra moves into a coaching role.
By that logic, every game we lose is down to the fact Kenny picked the wrong team? Just because we got through, doesn't mean it was the correct choice to make. Keep in mind, the only reason Everton scored was due to a Carra mistake.
Jamie's problem, that's there for all to see, is his lack of pace- becoming worse as he gets older. The mistake today had nothing to do with that, it was simply indecisiveness and confusion which could have happened to anyone. I agree that he needs to take a back seat now though, he's been a great servant to the club and needs to wind down before he loses his high regard amongst the fans. Enrique is a footballer, he always tries to play the ball out of defence rather than hoof it. This can mean he gets caught in possession sometimes, but I would rather risk the occasional clanger if it means we learn to build from the back more.
Yeah we all know Carras best days are numbered mate and I agree that not so long ago he would have just got rid and ploughed Agger with the ball if necessary but he's had long spells on the bench now and any player in that position suffers from lack of regular first team football (especially centre backs). Just saying that there is no way on gods earth that that ball today was Carras to deal with in the first place. Agger had 3 chances to lump it before Carra decided **** this I'll have to deal with it Anyways....alls well that ends well....could be worse....he could be Distin
jUST SOBERED-UP! Didn't anybody notice that at Balckburn Enrique got caught and grabbed his knee? Doen't matter now - WE WON!
Enrique has been out of form TBH, and probably desrved to be dropped for a match to give him a kick up the backside.Saying that Carras form has prob been just as bad.Next match Carra should be on bench with Enrique back at LB
If Spurs beat Chelsea, we can't play Carra. Agger would be made to look very silly at LB by Lennon/Bale/Walker.
look theres 3 things here. 1. kenny will pick a team he feels is right for the one game in fornt of him, not for any other reason. he wanted height to deal with everton and that did work didn't it? 2. carrgher is the man in possession of a shirt so kenny's forcing competition here... i for one deeply hope he picks up some knock shortly cos he cannot play the final. 3. enrique has looked a little bit tired lately and has had to play hte position all year... ok theres no europse but ther eis two cups and some midweek stuff so its a STEP UP for him to play this much. The championship and prem with newkie aint the same.
I have 2 theories: - He didn't want to drop Carragher as he wanted as much scouse blood in the team as possible. He knows they understand the importance of the game and will wear their shirt with pride in that game. It may provide a boost to the team if they see the passion that Carra, Stevie and wee Jay took into the game. - He hasn't really performed well enough recently and wanted to give him a kick in the backside by showing he is not a certain for selection. Because if I were him, and I looked down the pecking order for the LB position and I saw Aurelio and an injured Jack Robinson, i'd be feeling pretty good about my chances of selection. Either way, it worked. We're in the final and I expect Enrique back in the team for next weeks game against WBA.
