Fox drifts inside too much, leaving their winger exposed We need a RB, CB, RM, CM and a ST desperately if we go up, GK and LB not so much s priority though
Some depth is needed for sure. Should we **** this up, I think we can get some of that from our kids. If not though, we need to get busy in the transfer market to add to most of the team. Butterfield and Harding probably won't cut it and we'll need to assess whether Stephens or Shaw are ready. Another centre half is a must for cover as injuries and suspensions in defence always hit hard. We need another central midfielder, one that's comfortable on the ball with a good range of passing. James Ward-Prowse fits that description, but again we need to assess whether he's ready. A winger, possibly 2, is a must. As far as I know, we don't have another Chamberlain to unleash at this moment in time. We definately need someone quick and skillful but also with the quality to play the ball and make intelligent runs. This one migh cost a bit, but it will be worth it if we find the right player. A striker. We have 3 capable strikers but could use 4. Guly and Puncheon I'm unsure about. A player of Puncheon's quality really should have been in the 16 last night and the fact he wasn't raises questions knowing his history. Guly started the season well, but recently he's been pants. It certainly seems that he's short of confidence rather than quality, but can we bring his confidence back? He has a fair bit of magic in him, but also the ability to create and finish after all.
Here's my thoughts: Goalkeeper: I would keep Davis for another year and let Bart spend some time on loan to see how he does, while keeping an eye out for a potential new keeper. Defence: Solid, pacy, experienced centre-back - maybe Berra or Zubar. A left-back also, I have no ideas.. Midfield: Since Adkins doesn't appear to use 'traditional' wingers this one is difficult. Giving De Ridder or Puncheon a run makes sense, I would like to see someone like Etherington also. A midfield general goes without saying - Mikel or Scott Brown would do nicely. Attack: I like the Lambert and Sharp partnership but think we need another quality finisher. Lee is a great option also so someone like Doyle or Zamora is all that's needed. I'm working on the principle we'll go up with these ideas, as well as being ambitious I know!
having a quick winger is over rated, lambert and sharp are not fast and will not be in position. quality of service is more important ( beckham is a one trick pony and has had a good career). so I propose moving richardson right midfield as most people say he will struggle at RB and try out stephens at RB
Adkins prefers to chop and change the team rather than back his own signing, even though the signing shows promise and the team's best form came before the chopping and changing started. He loves Fox though
Out of interest, what sort of end product have we seen from anyone other than De Ridder on the right wing since Chaplow's injury?
Sorry, but this is wrong, very wrong. He is supposed to drop inside to keep the gap between him and the CB tight.
Not sure that has quite the same effect as when said when we were in pole position! Sort of goes without saying...
No he isn't? Richardson, Butterfield and Harding don't do it and whether he is supposed to do it or not, it doesn't work
A can opener springs to mind about our defense and the Premierleague , a complete new back four would be needed , would not know where to start as do not know what the budget would be .
Sure they do. Time after time Fox is too far infield giving wingers loads of space, as was proved Friday night
We need some quality defenders as our defense has never really been that good for years now,the good thing is our attack is so good that we end up scoring more goals than we concede, but against quality premier league teams where you have to take your chances and then defend well to stay in the lead it is paramount that we invest in some quality defenders, very important. A RW and a CM,in my opinion, are also needed for next season (if we go up) and another striker.I think De Ridder is quite a useful player to come off the bench for us and open the game up like he did last night,he had a great game like a lot of our players did except most of our defenders unfortunately.I don't think we have to look too far for some new players, let's have a look at some youngsters as this is our philosophy after all. These are my views from the games I've watched on TV,streams and highlights so my opinion isn't 100% I know.
Seriously, were you watching the game? Other than the one mistake, giving the ball away he had a very good game. It's fans like you that I really cannot stand. He is also the best LB in the league, I wouldn't swap him with anyone. He will be first choice next year, no doubt about it.
There's no doubting he is a good LB, no question about it - However, the fact remains he has a weakness that is often exploited and it's something he needs to work on (same with many of our players)
My first thought was need a lot of new players, but realised that this was based on feeling blue because we lost to a form team and another team out of our control won well. Certainly need to either get the best out of Fonte or replace him (never thought I'd be saying that!), get a GK back-up to Davis (needed that anyway), and another striker (because sure Connolly and Barnard will leave). We are at the ***-end of a long season and the team needs to see it out...over to you, Nigel.
He isn't a weakness, FFS. There is no weakness there, he has to tuck in, that's how you play full back. You then move across when they receive the ball and jockey them. He does this. In fact, more often than not, Fox makes interceptions from this position...
Right, i know i don't post on here much, but i am a season ticket holder so i am a fair judge of the team as i see them most weeks. i think we need a Centre Back : Fonte would be good cover, but this season has been somewhat erratic, Jos is good enough, so i think a decent partner would be handy. Right back : butterfield is getting older and slower, and would probably go end of his contract. richardson does caught out a few times going forward by pacy winger, so someone in the mould of Kyle Naughton, an attacking right back but with the pace to get back would be ideal. centre mid : cork and schneiderlin are good enough, so is Chappers who is a natural CM , so someone to replace Deano might be required. JWP might be good enough, but someone who runs the midfield , can tackle, pass etc. dont know whether he would be available, but Celtic's Beram Kayal or Scott Brown would be a fantastic signing. Right Mid : de ridder is quick, but sometimes his final product isn't good enough. he is very useful as an impact sub as he proved versus reading against tiring defenders. someone like Matt Jarvis would be a fantastic signing : wolves are going to get relegated, we are a team with ambition, he is quick and can cross the ball, and with good form would be a key player = good for both parties. Striker : not a priority as lambert and lee would be good, sharp i think would do well, but with conners probably going, and barnard maybe on his way out , a striker would be good. Jake sinclair has been brilliant for the u18s, but someone with a bit of pace, can head the ball, and with premier league ability/experience would be good. we may just go for a few unknown signings, but these are the places i would bump a bit in terms of quality. cheers
