You tied yourself up in knots on your own mate But I like Santos, he's a very direct type of player. He was a bit of a porker when he first came to Arsenal, but he's looking in good shape now. I think he could be a revelation next season if he stays fit.
You do realise that Ramsey's pass completion rate is pretty average right ? ... and he gives the ball away more than any other player in our squad... In terms of Santos - I think I would just take him ahead of Gibbs.
Not getting into a debate with you over Ramsey. You might think he's ****, but I think he's a player who could make it big time at Arsenal. So let's leave it there It's good to have two decent LBs vying for competition. It should bring out the best in both of them.
For the avoidance of doubt - I don't think Ramsey is **** - just having a poor season. On the left back front - Jenkinson can also play there - I think he will be our starter in 2 years (on one of the flanks)
I think Jenkinson is a decent RB, but there's no way he's going to displace Sagna. I can't see him starting ahead of Gibbs or Santos either. But he is a good cover for both flanks.
I think he's the type of no nonsense defender we need. He's also a great crosser of the ball. I can't see a weakness in his game - he just needs experience.
The left back spot is up for grabs to be honest. For me, both Gibbs and Santos has to have close to a full season to prove their worth. Sagna has been doing it season after season consistently, shown to be top class. I can't think of too many right backs as good as him in the premiership. Wenger should really start being more ruthless with the squad and he should start with the left back. See how both Gibbs and Santos perform over the first half of the season and whoever performs the best being least injured, should be kept. Otherwise, go out there and buy a left back that will play!!!
http://www.eplindex.com/13838/bad-d...der-arsenal-andre-santos-statistical-analysis I know there are a lot of you that hate stats, but here are some for fun.
That's a very good analysis and lines up with the OPTA stats that have him leading our team in tackles and interceptions per game. I would have Santos as a starter right now.
Have to say I concur. I'd definitely be choosing Santos over Gibbs right now. He needs a bit more tactical discipline to overlap rather than come inside at times, but consistent working with a left winger would help him develop this. The understanding between Theo & Sagna stands as a great example of this. He has experience, and bags of ability, and his aerial prowess helps the team a lot too. He makes interceptions and actually speeds up the game as he always wants to move the ball forwards quickly.
