Lets face it it takes some bottle to appear againand he came out with flying colours don,t forget that in League one he scored as many goals as Beckford Lambert and Holt so lets hope he comes good at last!
From BP's biggest critic (i.e. me), an apology. You're not as useless as I maintain. Good performance today. Well done. But!!! One swallow doth not a summer make!
No false illusions - Ship him out, done his chances of finding another team the world of good I would suspect.
Aftr two seasons of inept slow mediocrity, Billy has finally lost weight and started to apply himself. No more eating himself into depressive obesity, he has clearly decided to do something positive about it - and he was the only one that could. Really happy for him - these next 3 games could show him to be way ahead of Becchio in the striker stakes, and he showed more today in one match than Becchio has in the last 10. Keep it up Billy and you may yet deserve that number 9 shirt
Couldn't make it to the game today (being at a university the other side of the country doesn't help!) but I'm just curious to ask anyone that did go - How good was Billy today? Obviously he scored twice, albeit at a club with a reputation for having a leaky defence. But I'm more interested as to how he gets the best out of McCormack. End of last season when those two were starting we all said they were putting a good little partnership together. And two goals for each of them today enhances that no end. So basically, how did the two link up together?
Billy was up front on his own in a 4-5-1, McCormack tucked in behind on the wing along with Rogers on the oither side. Snoddy had a free role. It really doesn't work though. Rogers got injured and was replaced by Webber, hwo I really like, but he is not fully fit yet. Once he has a pre-seaosn under his belt, he could be great. Billy went up for every header, mainly against Zakuani, who he outlasted and outjumped much iof the time. His head-ons often went to either Webber or McCormack. He was left alone to chase the ball down from their defenders a lot of the time, and it was exasperating to see them doing triangles around him - but he never gave up. His hold up play was good, and some of his passing was exquisite and clinical, making chances for others. The one thing I don't get is how little he gets his head on corners. Surely we must have a set understanding on where in the box he will be as a corner comes through, but we never play the ball to that area. Weird. Overall, he played much better than Becchio has done all season. He looks fitter, leaner, hungrier, faster, and more aggressive. He has turned down loans and sales time and again, and now he has had his taste of goals at ER, he won't go anywhere, no matter what the letters say.
Determination to do well despite all the **** thrown at him, sounds like he has Leeds in his blood. If only he were a bit better!
Thanks for that Shame, I really think him and McCormack could do well together! Sounds like he played a lot better than Becchio has all this season though, and from little I've seen (been restricted to mainly televised games this season, it upsets me greatly) Becchio's had a very average season, barely won a header at Reading.
