Talked about all the worrying issues and held his hands up for the tactical nightmere that was the Everton and Stoke games. Fair enough.

    BUT

Didn't sound confident about Joey and Jose, didn't sounds too ambitious for next season given we appartly have 35m to spend, guarnteed, Don't like being a pessimist but it looks like he was only on the offer reassurances that he might not be able to deliver just like in January. To boost season ticket sales just like Quinny did for the Mackems on Friday. (Apparently a deal on a right-winger was a done deal, Larsson probably). Also, he said we were looking at players on frees but why when we have 35m in the bank? There's a few players who will be available who I would like to see at SJP but this didn't fill me with any confidence at all.

I expect we are all in the same boat and reserving any type of positive judgement until we see who we actually sign in the summer, that is if we are still a premier league team!

There are several good players available on frees this summer though.

He's not telling us anything though and if he was to say we're hoping to sign this player and that player and looking at such and such I'd be dismayed with him for giving out our transfer targets.

The club have a policy of releasing nothing to the media. I don't think it's stopped.

    This <ok>

you cant expect Pardew to lay out his targets to us just so fans think OH were in for some quality players the summer is exciting...only for the clubs to hike the prices of these players through the roof so we pull out of deals.
We are going about this the right way
I just fear for Jose and Joey

I agree, I like our transfer policy and have already said that there will be a few good frees in the summer but surely we should be looking at at least one 10-15m player and then go from there?

Pardew sounded positive on 2 or 3 player in January and we got one and lost someone who he said he was not selling. It just seems Joey and Jose will not be signing and this will almost be January 2011 repeating itself. If we can't hold onto our own quality players we can't be standing on solid ground attracting other teams quality playerss

I liked his positiveness about attracting players though he seems very confident that it's the 50,000 crowd each week that is the selling point and it felt nice to be acknowledged in this way.

Saying we're after free players is a good thing, it's what Hughton was doing. Means we can spend big on the big first team players we're hoping for like Gervinho and a new striker, then dip into the free market for squad players. Our squad needs bulking up and we're not gonna do that, then spend big on strikers/wingers on however much of 35mil we get. Larsson, Elmander etc etc all available in the summer? Wouldn't be surprised if we went in for Larsson. Would welcome it in fact. There's that list of out of contract players knocking about here somewhere?

We've been reported to be attempt a 40m raid on Lille for Gervinho and Sow. This would suggest where the moneys going.
It's also been reported by both Carr and Gervinho himself that we are after Gervinho. So he could be that 10-15m player you're on about! :)

I think that both Enrique and Barton will go in the summer. Enrique because I think that he has made up his mind to leave for bigger and better things, and Barton because the club will insist on a huge reduction in his wages.

These 2 could be sold for a combined fee of around £20 million, and I would assume that Pardew/Ashley would be looking to spend around half of this on their replacements. They would also probably save around £1.5 million per annum in wages.

Saving £1.5 million per annum and bringing in £10 million in fees will appeal to Ashley's business model, especially if we bring in 2 young developing players that can be sold for a good profit in 3 years time.

I am not saying that this is what I want to happen, because I dont. I want to see both Jose and Barton here next season having signed new contracts. However, I just can't see them staying.

I reckon Jose will leave, because he wants to, and SHOULD, be playing champions league football and have better chances of getting into the national squad. Which is fair enough to him, it's not as if he's after just simply more money. Though if he goes to a club like Liverpool I will be pissed off. We can also get Taye Taiwo in as a pretty decent replacement too.

I think Barton will stay though. He wants to stay at this club like. I just hope they can offer him a decent wage reduction.

I'm not too worried about Jose and Joey... yet. If they've said that they won't talk until Premiership safety is secured, that's fair enough. If they don't want to play in the Championship again, I don't blame them.

It just seems to me that they're taking the hard-line business approach, which is what I would expect from players really (don't forget, they aren't fans like us). If that is the case, then there's little point discussing anything until safety is secured.

All my thoughts on this have already been said, but just to register my agreement.

Jose looks like he may well leave and Barton's situation is worrying. Am concerned but nothing is written in stone there yet so we'll have to wait and see.

As for free signings - Pardew has said that he wants to bring in half a dozen players. I'm assuming that his main targets are eating up his transfer budget so he is looking at some free signings as well. As long as they are good enough I have no problem with that.

Im not aboard the Gervinho bus, Kevin Gameiro is a much better option in my opinion.
I hope this is the case mate

I get this horrible feeling that he may be replacing Joey if we get him.
