The Euro's are coming up this summer.

Spearing has been great for us this year but is yet to play for England.

A lot of people have questioned the talent England have atm, which I think is harsh.

But apart from Parker, England lack safe, tidying, harding tackling midfielders. I'v even heard pundits ask what will England do in the future with Parker being the age he is.

I honestly think Jay Spearing should be in contention for a place in the England squad. He may not be flashy or have slick, silky skills. But he is solid and does the simple things brilliantly to keep the team ticking. He gives other players freedom to play and is a player you can trust.

So lets get a song and some banners.

    SPEARING FOR ENGLAND!!!!

P.S. This pictures hilarious. Looks photo shopped but I'm sure isnt.

I don't rate Spearing too highly, yes he has done an adequate job in stepping in for Lucas for the most part, but adequate does not justify an England call up.

You can't question his worth ethic and passion, but his talent makes him solely just adequate back up in the short term for me.

    Id agree with this.

The only use id see Spearing in the England squad would be to bring him on with 20 mins to go, to hold onto a lead. But considering we're talking about England that's an unlikely scenario!

He just lacks that something extra imo.

He's no worse than Parker. Parker literally spends the entire game running 2 yards infront of his centrebacks, picks the ball up from one and passes it to the other. Then repeats the process. He's a great last ditch tackler when the opposition is attacking, but he does nothing else. At least Spearing tries to send the ball forward when the chance comes his way.

No way. He's decent and I like him but he's not a touch on Parker.

What does Parker contribute other than last ditch tackling? He's ****e. The ball just goes between him and the CBs until VDV/Bale/Modric come deep to take it off him and do something.

I just look it at like this, would i be happy and see him as good enough if he was our first choice and not just covering an injury? No, i would not.

He is worse than Parker, and whilst Parker is overrated i still think Parker has more to him and contributes more to his team than Spearing does for us.

If England had a Lucas type player who has intelligence and sweeps up behind Parker/Spearing's pressing then they'd both be ideal partners for him. The problem is they don't have a Alonso/Lucas type player with the game intelligence to do that. Carrick is the only one, IMO, and his confidence is fragile and one bad pass could turn him into ****. Spearing isn't that good as the holding player, he proved in the game against Man Utd at Old Trafford that he wasn't very good and was struggling to anticipate anything Man U were going to do and was getting bypassed al the time because Lucas wasn't there to sweep up behind him.

The positive of Spearing is the fact he doesn't dally on the ball and distrubtes it so well usually with his first or second touch. He's better than Mascherano on the ball, its just the fact he isn't as good at anticipating things defensively that makes him not a DM like Mascherano, but even he struggled to look effective after Alonso left and he had no one to do his passing for him (Lucas was still adapting)>

guys don't be so harsh on parker... he also is quite sneaky and dirty and commits lots of atrocities on a football pitch.

finally one serious comment on england... the list you wrote bazray,..... there's not a playmaker amonst them. not sone special player like oh i dunno... arteta at arsenal, matas at chelsea, silva at city... we've imported our playmaker sin this country and have not made one since gascoigne.

You must not have watched Wilshere yet, who is actually better than Arteta and will take his place when he's back from injury.

I think our youth coaching in this country isnt right for producing play makers.

What does every one think of Wilshere? I see him as the closest.

We should make a cheeky bid ;)

The Arsenal team will be heart broken should Van Persie leave.

Parkers a very good player and given time and a continuation of his excellent work ethic then Jay will be an important player for us over the next ten years <ok> he isn't international standard yet and having seen the way Engerland treated Stevie over the years then they can stay the **** away from Jay as far as I'm concerned. As long as he keeps playing well for us and keeps developing then I'm more than happy.

Parker would never fit into our team. He's a limited defensive player, nothing more. He contributes nothing else to a team. If we had Parker, the ball would never move forward unless Suarez literally ran back 50yards to pick it up. He works for Spurs because they have Modric taking the ball off him to develop the play and Bale/VDV/Lennon feeding off the freedom.

Spearing isn't as good defensively, it's a role you need to get experience in before you 'make it', but he has more to his game than just tackling and breaking up the play, he picks it up and moves it along fast. Never dwells on the ball. Not a bad eye for a pass at times and he tries to put the ball to the wings rather than to someone 5yards away. Also as Bazray said, he's younger so he'll develop much more like Lucas has been given the chance to do.
