I like Arsenal, but you really make it difficult. ******** Commiserations to the blues. Not the best of games, but I think we deserved to win in the end. I wish all of those calling for Kenny's head would at least wait 'til the game's over.
Player ratings: Jones - 7 - Not much to do. A few nervous spots, a few good takes. Couldn't prevent the goal. Johnson - 6 - Not classic Johnson, but not bad. Save defensively. Everton lind up against him well. Skrtel - 8 - Safe and sound. Usual Skrtel. Carragher - 5 - bad mistake for first goal. Look pressured often. But was ok once we settled. Agger - 6 - Uncomfortable at left back. Made a few good interceptions. Henderson - 6 - Didnt do much wrong. Had some good touches. Lost his head and got stupid yellow. Gerrard - 6 - Pretty sound. Worked some good space for himself a few times and was well involved. But his shooting was off. Spearing - 8 - Calm and quality. Neat, tidy, composed. Downing - 7 - Did well I think. A few good rus, and a few good bals in, got let down by the men in the box. Suarez - 7 - Quality, especially in the second half. Second half gives him a 9 rating, but some silly moments with Distin gets him a 7. Carroll - 7 - Scored the winner and had some quality moments. Missed a sitter and disappeared for a little while after that, but recovered in style. Subs: Bellamy - 7 - Made a strong impact. Used his pace and chased every thing. Kept us nicely in control. Maxi - 6 - Quiet when he was on. A few good touches, but he missed a sitter.

That's why you gave us all the credit when we played you off the park but you still managed to spawn a winner you really didn't deserve, as I recall you posting on all the boards. You came back again to tell us how well we'd played against City to beat them in the CC semi. Good football is very important. Good punditry is also very important, which wasn't evident today as Souness, Reid and Royle insisted at half-time Kenny should take Carroll off. They then spent their full-time comments on AC's mistakes, ignoring their own glaring mistake completely. Those who can, do; those who can't go on punditry panels.

Great result but not the greatest performance, but job done all the same. Delighted Carroll got the winning goal, although didn't look like it was going to be his game. Suarez was different class second half, if only he applied himself like that all the time. Negatives are sick of seeing Henderson wrongly played on the right and Agger should never play left again, especially when there is a perfectly good one on the bench.
