Should I stick to my guns and say appointing Lennon was a mistake. I had winning the league as a bare minimum. He failed last year, succeeded this year. Yoorup was my initial yardstick. I can see the vision now. I can see what is being built and what it is being built for. Whaddaya reckon?
We are very lucky to have Neil Lennon Manager. We are lucky he did not leave and hopefully doesn't leave after the way he has been treated in Scotland over ten years by bigots, Rangers fans, Rangers club, the Scottish Football bosses, match officals and the media. Sometimes it seems that all these descriptions fitted the one group of people. Why are we lucky from a football point of view, Neil Lennon has within 2 years at least the won cup once and the SPL, with practically his own built team of young players brought in from all over the world at very small out-lay. This to me is a remarkable achievement on its own and he has done it by and large by playing good positive football.
Cerainly there is nothing sure about Celtic winning the cup. Two hard games between Celtic and cup winners. Tomorrow for a start won't be easy and you can be sure Hearts will be very difficult to beat. A big strong hard team and probably a lenient referee. N. Lennon will have to spend most of his time looking behind him as he cannot be sure what or who will come out of the crowd. One thing is sure the Police won't protect him.
Super , can you remember the first presenter of football focus in the 70's an English guy called Sam Lynch ???now knew his football . Always claimed he was a Celtic fan because we played the beautiful game the correct way .
I`m happy to stick to my guns, neil lennon may become a great manager - he isnt yet - but there is no way he should be serving his apprenticeship at celtic.
Sorry Harry I cannot recall Sam Lynch. Rogue Leader I am writing this after the cup semi final and I cannot understand how you could imply that Neil Lennon is serving his apprenticeship at Celtic. Experienced Managers like big Tony, Lou Macari and even Tommie Burns did not really bring much SPL success. Ifa man knows enough and is good enough he doesn't need to serve an apprenticeship. If he hasn't got the football brain and the ability to motivate players no amount of apprenticeships will train him. Just look at Bruce, Kidd, M. Hughes Roy Keane and so many other losers especially in England, fed with millions to spend and thet could not manage a team of dart throwers.
Its his first managerial job, he has no experience anywhere else, he has no training in this anywhere else, he has no track record , he has had no other opportunity to learn from mistakes : I expect a club of celtics stature and means to employ a manager who has already been through the above process and to have previously demonstrated his ability.... even if this is at a lower level ; I do not expect celtic to take a punt on an untried , first time manager in the hope that he might work out.
