At least I'm joking. Are you in America? I forget. Some of 'em really are as thick as pigshit. What was your reply anyway? I'd have said Cornish or Scotch Gaelic just to **** with their head.

Tourists can be annoying in York. Can't think of many disadvantages other than that.

I'll tell you something though I have had American friends visit Hull and I brought me son last summer and between Wilberforce House and the museums on High St, Queens Gardens, The whaling Museum, Prinny Quay, the history of the old town and Whitefriar Gate, also of course The Deep, Holy Trinity Church and of course the wonderfull Larkin Toads.
Hull is a hell of a place to visit too if it would just stop raining for a couple of days

The City doesn't do enough to promote itself. Those areas are very nice and add something to the City but unfortunately people can't see away from the garbage that C4 show spouted.

Hull has a fantastic history and is a very vibrant city, that Hull Truck Theatre is vey impressive, the paragon interchange (I stayed at the Station Hotel and could buy beer very early in the morning)
KC is a great stadium, Albermarle Centre, I was gone a long time and was quite frankly stunned at how great they have made my city!
The only down side I got to say was Friday and Sat nights downtown they really do have some nasty little chavs running round them clubs to be honest.
After we beat Swansea I went in Admiral and I took one look and said feck this and went back to the hotel and went to bed, next time I will need some advice on where to go for a friendly pint on a weekend night

Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield all look like Islamabad, as do parts of Leeds.

Harrogate should be good, but they've ****ed up the town centre with poor shopping centres and crap buildings(and it's full of nearly dead people).

Beverley for me, with Helmsley second and for a day at the coast, then it's Whitby.

Oh yeah I have been to Bradford, that really is a horrible place. Can't think of anywhere I would want to live less than there.
Maybe a few miles out of the city might be ok in the surrounding areas but Bradford itself is very grim indeed

Is that how you spell surrounding?

Got to say though the nicest place in Yorkshire is York, I work out of York quite a bit and have had a fair few nights out there too, nice centre, lots of bars etc. good race course and excellent transport links, would not suggest Beverley, I was born there and lived there for 18 years, it's a nice enough place but has not really moved with the times, esp the town centre, there are a limited number of good restaurants and bars to go to on a night out, I currently live in Sheffield, and like every other city it has it's crap areas, but is a very good city, i'd put it as second to York, just a bit better than Hull which I think has to be one of the most improved areas in the country over the last ten years. Leeds is a nice enough place but full of twats. As for Barnsley, jesus, the land that time forgot that place, what an excrament hole that place is.
