I think the time has come to bury the hatchet once and for all. Steve Bruce arrived with the intention to provide good times although it didn't work out as we all hoped that it would. Bruce has said things that I'm sure he regrets and so have many Sunderland fans too. When I watched Bruce's interview on football focus recently it became apparent just how deeply the experience of managing Sunderland affected the bloke. It didn't work out here, but I hope for him it does work out elsewhere. Sunderland and Bruce became united in an attempt to achieve success, it didn't work out and now both parties move on. Que Sera Sera.

Apparently, the 'lass' has told herself she is good looking so many times she actually believes it.

But giving someone a 12" cock extension, then chopping 2/3rds of it off some months later, does not IMO constitute progress. The harsh reality is he took over us when we had just avoided relegation under Sbragia (by the skin of our bell ends), spent a lot of money, bought and sold almost entire teams in 5 transfer windows and left us with 2 home wins in 11 months, a 29% win ratio (6th worst ever in our history). Yes there was a 14th and 10th place but lets not forget how close in both those seasons we came to being dragged in to a relegation scrap under him, with those disastrous 2nd half of the campaign slumps. They were not solid finishes and relied heavily on others not our own efforts. The less we say about his derby record the better as well - least to say that even a post war record defeat didn't turn the crowd against him here, so that puts to bed that little pile of Brucie bull ****.

This season we had 2 wins in 14 games and 11 points the day he left the club and we were 4th bottom. After 2.5 years we were in exactly the same place we were under the rank amateur Sbragia and Ellis Short saved us from what IMO, was another full blown relegation scrap back in November. With his usual second half slump, we would have been down amongst the dead men at the foot of the table by now.

Thankfully we have a future to look forward to now and with a full transfer window this summer, Martin O'Neill can begin his rebuilding (not dismantling and a complete refurnish) but real building. It may take a couple or three windows to see the real MoN team but we have already seen what he can do with someone else's squad, so I cant wait to see his own.

We have made more progress since December 3rd 2011 than we have under the previous 2.5 years. Lets not try and make it otherwise for Bruce, as he has obviously tried to distort the reality for his own ends.

i know were your coming from and i agree with the article but he didnt spend a lot of money and he improved the quality of playing staff massively.

i do think he was punching above his weight with us but he does deserve a bit of credit!

for example mon only needs to go out and buy 2/3 top quality players and i think we will be a top team imo

that wasnt the case when bruce first came here..

This I do half agree with kidda. Bruce did recruit decent players but couldnt manage them or be tactically clever enough to get the best out of them either.

However, we are more than just 2/3 away from being a 'top' side IMO. The Everton game in particular showed we were just not mentally, physically or skillfully good enough and Everton are not world beaters.

Also, there are too many games like the WBA, Everton (last weekend) and the likes for my liking which shows huge flaws in our character and ability. There will be players leaving this summer - Sess I feel will definately go imo, which will be disappointing - as will a host of others that do not bother me in the slightest.

The size of MoN's task to rebuild not just the confidence of the existing players but also to recruit better players than we already have is enormous not small.

Westill need a left back and right back cover; a centre half to replace Bramble; some guille and pace in the midfield; some pace dopn the right flank and some compettion for McClean (who wont be going anywhere next season IMO).

Most of all though we need quality fire power.

If we can get a further £8m for Gyan and £20m for Sessegnon, £6m Richardson (I've heard that there is a gentlemens agrement on his leaving to go back to the capital) and Ellis decides to open up the cheque book a little and add say another £14m, I'd love to see what Martin can do with £50m at his disposal.

My shopping list would be pace and attacking prowess:

    Odemwingie - £10m + Gardener
    Agbonlahor £6m
    Matt Phillips - £6m + player (s)
    Johnson - £12m
    McCready - £12m
    Warnock - £2m
    Bridge - £2m

    Total - £50m

    Gordon

    Barsdley, Brown, O'Shea, Warnock

    Johnson, Catts, McCready, McClean

    Agbonlahor, Odemwingie

    Subs (from):

    Mignolet,

    Turner, Killgallon, Bridge,

    Colback, Meyler, Larsson, Vaughan,

    Wickham, Phillips, Campbell,
