I can't defend the murder of innocent people. I try to understand what would lead people to consider such extremities. Certainly if you put people in an extreme situation then they will seek extreme solutions.

But it is not deflecting to point out that the ratio of Military to Civilian deaths during the Troubles was a much much higher percentage than any conventional war the British have fought in the last hundred years. Indeed as perverse as it may sound at first planting a bomb at the side of a military barracks is probably more accurate than dropping them from the air over civilian cities in Iraq - the number of civilian deaths would seem to indicate so anyway.

Certainly the 100,000 Germans who were killed in Dresden despite the war being practically over, and there being absolutely no military targets in the city is a bigger war crime than anything which was ever carried out in my name.

Mick, you seem quite reasonable and balanced but you know as I do that we could go through 600 years+ worth of who did bad to whom. Not saying GB was any better (I know we have been total ****s) BUT.... to say IRA or any other org like that was any better is just delusional.

An interesting note: if you look at all the active conflicts or territorial arguments in the globe you could trace about 80% of those to the impact of the British Empire. Thats nastily impressive.

You can never see the other persons point of view. I bet your one of these guys that argue, realise they are wrong but just keep going....until you say "just cos". Pride comes before the fall and all that.

I cant pose questions to a person who is so myopic and single minded...no conversations with you...

Anyway, my advice to you is to read, try and understand the other persons point of view and understand their motivation.

A block? What to stop sad individuals posting pictures of me?

No one made him go onto FB and search for me, then copy and paste on here. My details are open to fiends only but Trev searched my frinnds list to find someone and then posted his details too.

Pretty normal behaviour from somone whose nose I got right up.

supermong, I have never said "just cos" in any discussion with you, or anyone else on this or any other site.
I concede to resorting to name calling, but only when the person with whom I am discussing a topic shows little or no inclination to use any kind of reasoned argument to inform their position.

"but again all this deflection isnt going to make this any better for the IRA... Certainly not an organisation with any moral compass....completely undefendable".

    What deflection?
    What IRA?
    Why "certainly" no moral compass?
    Why completely undefendable (sic)?
