    Edit:
0)........Dave Dueberry, Angie (summatorother) and the rest of the Chalk Lane Club coffin carriers who made their mark so prominently, only leading to a succession of failed attempts to revive Hull City?
    *******************************************************************************
    Unedit
    1) .......Paul Hunter. Signed by Stan Ternant as the 'next big thing' to herald the start of (short lived) Chetham reign, only disappear beyond recall a short time later?
    2) ......Richard Chetham. Had great plans to lift Hull City out of the doldrums and with his wife, Harold Needler's daughter, Vanessa, pushing him, there were high expectations?
3).......Martin St Quinton. Former locally based race horse owning hi-tec entrepreneur, and business associate of Richard Chetham (I believe), who reluctantly apparently committed some resource to the dreams of the Chethams?
4).......Vanessa Chetham (nee Needler). Sister of Christopher and a big supporter of Hull City, even to the extent of delivering lottery tickets every week in her Series 7 Beema?
    5) ......Christopher Needler. Of course heir to the Needler empire and seemingly forced into the Hull City hotseat, even though his first love was probably based in the South of France rather than North Ferriby, Swanland or even Boothferry Road. A local socialite, he was close friends with many local potential investors such as the Healeys, Oughtreds, and others
    6) ......The Healeys...................................................................................?
    7) ......The Ougtreds.................................................................................?
    8) ......Please continue.......................................................................................?

A quiet time at the moment so can anyone continue this 'who's who' thread by association of those who could ve been skint at the hands of Hull City today, and at the same time perhaps even answer a couple of the questions posed?

I don't know what has happened to them now, but my uncle used to work with Chetham. I don't think they got along.

I used to encounter the Oughtreds as they often ate at Fergie Fawcett when I was a silver service waiter there. I remember them being some of the most ignorant people I ever served. I did "accidentally" pour gravy etc from the silver salver over Mrs Oughtred's new dress when she was being particularly rude. I didn't get a very good tip that day

Vanessa is still an honorary vice-president at the club and several of the Chetham's still attend all home games.

Someone will have to clarify whether the Oughtreds were initially a seperate rich family to the Jacksons who owned the shops that were taken over by Sainsburys, or whether this is how the Oughtred's came to be rich, but at some point in the Jackson family history the heir to everything was female and had married an Oughtred so it became the Oughtred family who owned them. Once they sold the shops they still owned the bakery, the frozen food company (Aunt Bessie's amongst other brands), and any other sideline businesses they'd set up. Beyond that point I couldn't tell you.

Dunno - their office used to be on Bev Road, not far from Fountain Road (by Providence Row?).

Seperate rich family it was then. I just remember Angus Oughtred being the MD or something of that nature when the Sainsbury takeover happened and had been told it was the Jackson familly still but the story above had changed the name.

I served my apprenticeship for a well established electrical contracting firm in Hull who were/are owned by the son in law of Mrs Oughtred and did some work at a house of hers somewhere near Dalby forest and upon meeting her, I can confirm, she truly is one horrific ****.
She tried to get me fired at the age of 17 for dotting a cig out on her wooden floor as she'd seen me do it.
The only thing was, which really annoyed her, back then I didn't even smoke- never mind dot one out on her floor.
She was just a dried up old husk of a woman.

I thought Paul Hunter wasn't that bad really, it was more the service that let him down or rather the lack of it, headed back to Scotland I believe, remember Malcolm Murray? :)
What I'd like to know is what happened to Don Robinson? After he resigned at the end of the 80's I know he apparently put a bid together just before Pearson did but probably retired to Spain, or Scarborough!

I think it was the same Oughtred in both cases - Jacksons and shipping insurance.
