    Basically the jist is-

Its better to believe in God (or whatever) because there will be consequences if you don't (ie. afterlife etc).

It does not matter if God doesn't exist, as you don't lose out on anything if you did believe in God.

But if you didn't believe in God and God does exist, you'll get wrong, so to speak.

As far as I'm aware anyway.

Manchester United’s peculiar £7.5million transfer of misfit striker Bebe is being investigated by anti-corruption police in Portugal, it emerged on Friday night.
It appears about £3m of the fee paid went missing. United’s decision to pay so much money for a virtual unknown raised eyebrows when they struck the deal with Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes in August 2010. Only 20 at the time, Bebe made just three starts for United - none in the league - before being loaned to Besiktas in Turkey last summer.

He appeared out of his depth at Old Trafford, raising questions as to why United had made such an investment
    .
Now it has emerged that Portuguese police are looking into the deal to find out where around £3m of the money has gone. Their anti-corruption department have scheduled hearings with various witnesses in Iberia.

    er ... not quite,

    - Blaise Pascal was a mathematician (also sometimes called 'the father of modern algebra' - remember all those boring maths lessons? ...he has a lot to answer for). The gist ...

Heaven is an eternity so even if you think there is just a tiny chance that the afterlife exists, the payoff of 'eternity' by far outweighs whatever miniscule chance of there being a heaven and all that mularky, so mathematically, it is logical to believe in God. (that's the wager)

It is a matter irony, that religionists have seized upon this ridiculous, obviously facile and facetious argument and taken it as a reason to be a believer.

Not being funny, if an Alex Ferguson team was going to fix a game it would be when they were out of a title race in and not in a battle with Man City. Though can't imagine that there is any of that going on.
