If we haven't already agreed to sign Podolski, I'd much rather we went for Giroud. He's better suited to the Premier League and offers more imo. I know Podolski is more versatile and probably cheaper than Giroud, but he's not as talented.

Giroud is an absolute giant - he's brilliant in the air, he's got great technique for such a big man and he works hard for the team. Podolski is more agile and can play in a left-forward position as well as a lone striker, but he's just not as good as Giroud. He's also got serious attitude problems.

agreed pod has serious attitude problems. I haven't seen giroud play but if rumours prove true his price will prove to be way beyond our budget. In additon he seems to be far to similar to rvp and is untested at the highest level.Big gamble for the fees being touted which i would rather spend elsewhere. Matias suarez who i havent seen personally either may prove to be a safer cheaper option and my preferred option if pod falls through.

Giroud is a big CF. In our system, RVP is the lone CF. Unless, you are telling me this guy can play in the wide roles, I just do not see the point of forking out what will be a potentially large transfer fee for someone not as good as RVP. Podolski like you said, is versatile. Podolski's only problems came when he went to Bayern and after that for a bit. He has always worked hard and delivered for his country and has done really well for Koln this season.

The only problem with signing Giroud would be that we'd have to go 4-4-2 because we can't drop RVP.

The guy wins absolutely everything in the air. He'd help us on set pieces. Plus he's Koscielny's best friend. :)

Yeah SJW19, but I just think he's worth going 4-4-2 for.

He's like a younger version of Ibrahimovic.

I don't agree. Podolski is a far better option. "Going 4-4-2" is a huge issue. At this point, it would be almost an insane step.

It is like saying Barcelona should sell Messi and start playing a 4-4-2.

    Could'nt really disagree more.

Podolski is aggressive, strong, skillful and quick. He's a direct kind of player that runs straight at defenders and is not afraid to shoot from range.
He reminds me of Wayne Rooney in many ways (a more intellegent version...without the penchant for older ladies :p ..but he's a simular type of player).

Giraud is tall, slender, skillfull but has never proven it at the top level. Personally I think giraud would just be anther Chamakh. He has no Champions League experience and at 26 has barely played for his National Team.

Podolski on the other hand is the same age and has 43 goals in 94 outings for Germany.

Also anyone who thinks playing a 4-4-2 is still a viable option should probably just grow up and admit the 90's are over. Tear down the 'Spice Girls' posters Kamran, times have changed.

if 'attitude' is a desire to win right to the last kick - then bring it on.

If you went 442, you surely couldn't play Walcott and Gervinho on the wings. I know you've got AOC that can give you some proper width but you'd end up needing atleast another two wingers for your squad.

I'm more than happy to have Podolski from the players available to us.

As fo 4-4-2 being outdated - Man U don't seem to be having many problems with it <ok>

    Stop following football hype.

Don't start posting bullshit about how many caps they've got for their nations.

Koscielny has 1 cap for France while Mertesacker has 70+ for Germany, but Koscielny is still the better defender.

And stop comparing him to Chamakh, the guy is nothing like Chamakh. He can actually play football. And if you think Podolski's got a good left-foot, you should see this fella.

Nope. He is'nt . Koscielney's a better player... but an inferior defender.

He's quiet alot like Chamkah: Tall, good in their but somewhat waisteful in front of goal. Plays in the french league and despite playing up front does'nt score alot of goals (even in a weak french league.)

    Currently 5th choice for France.

How is Koscielny an inferior defender to Mertesacker? <laugh>

Seriously mate, you're the most deluded poster I've come across on here. You just say things and back them up with absolutely nothing.

He's nothing like Chamakh, you obviously haven't seen him play. Other than both of them being tall and good in the air, they're nothing alike. Giroud is not wasteful infront of goal. He's scored 19 league goals this season and there's still quite a few games to go. Chamakh scored about 12 the whole season.

This guy can play football, Chamakh cannot.

    Well summed up Ammaar.

I know we won't sign him unless we go 4-4-2, I just think he's a better footballer than Podolski.
