    Hi Steve

Have been looking at a bike for a while - use my car or bicycle at moment. Noticed yours is a 125.

If you have a car licence, do you need to take any tests for a 125 within a couple of years, or can you ride a 125 for ever on a bike provisional?

666 I think you still need to pass a CBT course but you can ride a 125 with plates on a full car licence <ok>

    Afternoon Elmo <ok>

I don't have a car license but you can you ride up to a 125cc on a provisional so yes assume forever apart from of course having to get a new piccy for the photo card license every 10 years. All I did was take the theory first before doing the cbt on the advice of my brother in law whose rode and driven for about 30 years so I trust his advice and experience implicitly <ok>

Both the cbt and theory are valid for two years for taking the practical then you can bin the L plates but I'll probably give it a good year and a half before taking the practical so I've got ****loads more experience. I've heard some people only ever bother just simply renewing their cbt rather than taking the practical but I'm not sure if you have to keep on renewing the theory as well either mate. <ok>

Cheers Guys. Used to have bikes when I was younger, but once you have a full car licence (and mine is some 25 years old now) you don't need to do a CBT as far as I am aware. I can ride a 50cc bike without L plates, and take pillion passngers I believe (if the bike would move with 2 on it)

And with a car licence, I know I can just get a 125cc bike and ride it with L plates, but not sure if that "allowance" runs out after two years and I have to take a practical, or whether I can forego the practical and stay with a 125cc on L plates forever.

Yeah I know its different with a full driving license as I can't carry pillion passengers or go on the motorway on my provisional but I'm not bothered tbh as me getting a scooter was always for commuting reasons alone to cut down on fares and travelling time although my brother in law has said to me that regardless of what I've said I'll still want to go out on the bike some days for a ride as I'll fancy it like in the nice summer weather <ok>

Fares are only ever going to keep going up <doh> so I thought **** it, its about time I do what people have been telling me to do for years and get myself a bike <ok>

SB Mick always said he'll have a new washing machine when he got to 10,000 and its kind of stuck as the running joke with me, I told him recently in all bar one at LB before our game that were ok for a washing machine so I'll have to think of something else

A new Yamaha scooter instead <whistle>
