Well we craved the first race now we crave more... The second GP of the season at malaysia if anything like the last few years will surely dig up some suprises. After Aus we learned that Vettel is still fast, The McLarens have got back on pace after a dodgy test schedule, Renault and Sauber can be a force, Ferrari have promise, mercedes need to improve and Hispania need to qualify. Well thats not going to help with my predictions! It does strike me as odd when the hardcore fans would get up at any hour to watch it (and they have a rerun anyway) why they don't race at a convenient local time, the TV audience don't mind that much. Unless thats Bernie's latest plan, to hold the event when theres the max chance of his precious rain.
Its not like 8am on a sunday morning suits the casual fan anyway I'm all for F1 early, means the rest of the day is free for the important things in life . . . . . . like arguing how Driver A clearly owned Driver B
I think this would be brilliant if they didn't have such a deluge. Hopefully we'll get a wet race rather than farcical monsoon conditions where everybody ends up stood on the grid waiting for it to clear.
To quote BBC on Malaysia: I'm not knowledgeable enough to set the race calender, but isn't April between March and May? I like rain mid way through a race, But I prefer dry tarmac to bow waves Fingers crossed for sensible rain then.
im not a weather expert but I do know La nina is strong at the moment which means wet weather along the pacific and drought in europe.
Red Bull eager to have KERS at Malaysia due to its longer straights and longer run from the grid to the first corner Autosport If they can't get it working they'll be sitting ducks on the straights, assuming teams can hang on to them through the bends.
I'm thinking the tyre wear will be better, as will Ferrari if its dry and hot. I would like to see a wet race. Could be good for Petrov.
McLaren will be on it there Long straights, lovely flowing sections and unpredictable weather will al play into the hands of Mclaren
The lights go out at 9, the BBC broadcasting always starts one hour early, so isn't it going to start at 8?
Anyone got any thoughts on the likelihood of RB running KERS at Malaysia? The longer straights are definite KERS territory
They've said they must so I assume they will be. Usually they get done what they say they're going to.
Have we heard where the DRS zone is yet? I'm assuming its going to be the back straight, aiming for overtakes in the final hairpin? Thats going to be a big benefit to cars that can hold their speed through the relatively quick corners that lead onto that straight. I think Hamilton is quoted as saying Red Bull were 12km/hr faster through the turn 12 chicane at Melbourne, so they can clearly hold their speed, as can Mclaren (he went on to say Red Bull were 25km/hr faster than most other teams through that corner). This should give some, unfortunately probably easy moves into the final hairpin. It wouldn't surprise me if the activation line gets moved further and further down the straight as the weekend progresses.
