Its very pretentious of us to be telling the Swans their short-comings. For Christ's sake guys, we're up to our knees in sh*t near the foot of the table whereas they're safely tucked away in mid-table.

Anyone reading this would think its the other way around!

I really don't understand this unwarranted criticism of Swansea's play. OK, they weren't at there best last night. ( Which a few on here seem to base their whole argument on. )
But I would rather be in their position than ours right now. All the best Swans.

I agree Swords & 999, they've had a season to be proud of and my comments are just stating the obvious. The beauty of the PL is that there are a number of styles of play that can all be effective on their day and the top clubs are finding that they can all be taken on any given day...

Good post. Swords also hit the nail on the head by saying we are in no position to comment on your style of football. We are both small clubs fighting against the big boys week in and week out. What you have achieved so far is top drawer and with one or two quality additions, the Swans could be even stronger next year. Rodgers has done an amazing job and deserves great credit. IMHO it won't be too long before bigger clubs come calling. Great to see that ye at least try and play the game the correct way. Obviously ye need to add more strength in depth to advance next year.

I take all the points being made about Swansea trying to play the game the right way and I love watching good, passing football. I think what pissed me off on Wed was that they were so negative! In the first half they played so many backwards or sideways passes and were wasting time at every opportunity. It was just all so negative.
I think they've done brilliantly this season and I'm sure they must have played more progressively at times to get into the safe position they're in!
BUT........for me......playing clever triangles in your own half and constantly playing across the back four and with the keeper is boring. Clever triangles and quick one-twos in the attacking third is entirely different!! A mix of the two is the ideal!!

Col it was a chess match and IMO I agree with BR that their tempo was to blame ... It was very impressive to me to see them play this way as they on occasions at the right time they go forward in a controlled way until they unlock the opposition
What was more impressive to me on Wed was how QPR knew exactly this and and it revealed the only weakness in their system ... They have no gears to take it up a level ... If they did then you are looking at a great football model akin to some of the great footballing sides .
As most know on here my views that Swansea IMO have been fantastic and brave to play this style in the premiership ... I said to one bloke behind me Wed who was shouting at Taarabt to close down that he was wrong and to be fair he agreed at the end and understood that want QPR did without the ball was as impressive as what they did with it.
In the end it was QPR playing the football . Teams styles both influence a football match hence no two games are ever the same
Most will see this when Stoke come to town

ok might have been over the top regarding swansea's play but it was based on wednesday's game & there performance, i appreciate that they have done very well this season & some there football has been ok & should be safe this season, but would like to see a change of tactics in certain games from them, glad it worked in our favour wednesday.

Since we beat Man. City & Fulham we seem to have retreated into our own half. Very little forward movement, no counter attacking and on occasions, poor defending. Yes, at the moment it is very negative and boring, it needs to be sorted sharpish.

Perhaps it`s the players feeling they`ve done enough, perhaps it`s Rogers trying to consolidate our position, whatever the reason it`s not working. They all need a kick up the aris and sort out the problem of losing four straight games.

I`d rather be in the position we are than yours, but come the end of the season the positions could be reversed. Need to not lose our next game.

Really surprised at some of the comments on this thread. Was abroad and did not see any of the game except the goals. But however the Swans played on Wednesday they have been a breath of fresh air for the last couple of seasons. For QPR supporters to criticize is especially strange - they play proper football like we have traditionally tried to.
If I was a Swans fan my worry would be lack of depth in the squad and lack of cash to add one or two quality/ explosive players to help move to the next level.
Good luck to them, within reason.

Mate...what they played Wednesday was NOT "proper" football. It was a bore fest. They wasted time as often as possible, at throw ins and when the keeper had the ball. They played so negatively it was unbelievable. Their fan on this thread has just agreed with me, whilst answering my question about whether they've been more progressive in the past. I'm sure they must have been to beat City and be where they are!!

Fair enough Col, as I said I didn't see it .....and am on a plane again tomorrow so will miss the West Brom game - wont even know the result til Sunday. Let's see how Swans do for the rest of this season and next year - if they play negatively they'll get what they deserve from the opposition and their own fans. Same time I wouldn't want Rs to be judged on our performances st Sunderland or the first halves of Spurs and Blackburn.....

A mix of styles helps make the English game great and Swansea can be entertaining at their best just as Stoke can. Both at their worst are equally dull.

I'm quite surprised by the audacity of Rangers fans to critisize the style of Swans play after we beat them. Especially as they have attained a higher position. We didn't have this 'Spanish Inquisition' on other teams tactics after beating Wigan, Chelsea, Liverpool or even the mighty Arsenal. So why poor Swansea who have done brilliantly this season?
