Enough for them to win. The romantics among us would love Everton to win the FA Cup. A well run club that dont waste the little money they have. Moyes always does sound business in the transfer market.

Yes, we looked into this because of the confusion around Waghorn earlier in the season and those are definitely the rules. It seems that as OLM said there was some sort of special clause put in or dispensation by the FL/PL.

so did we have to give permission for this then or was it completely out of our hands?

I suspect we had to agree to this and that we did so for the return of at least part of the loan fee we paid, but they still needed special dispensation from the PL and the FA, which they were expecting to have confirmed yesterday afternoon(though I still haven't actually seen it confirmed anywhere yet).

So, the rules are clear, they can't have him back, unless, they can.

    Gotcha, ta.

Sorry, this is just making me laugh, and at the end of the day, he really was ****e, and its excellent that 1) we got rid and 2) Liverpool are that fooking desperate, they want him back for cover when most likely even Carroll could do a better job in goal. Actually, they should try that seeing as he's ****e in the middle of the field.

Just been told that the Liverpool v Everton game can only be seen on ESPN. Bloody cheek given what we have to pay every month to watch Sky. Someone I work with reckons there are no highlights on BBC or ITV either.
I thought the FA Cup was a tournament for all football fans and not just another excuse to take money out of our pockets.?

Very cynical of you But i do agree ^^^^^^ 100%. Gulacsi is no loss to us at all. He cost us both Xmas games for starters and those lost points may become crucial. Glad to hear last night that Damien Comoli has gone as he was not very good to deal with. Maybe our relations can improve further with Liverpool in future. Would agree also that Andy Carroll would do a better job in goal than Gulacsi,, <whistle>

Highlights on ITV of that game either saturday night or more likely on sunday 6pm seatime when ITV1 show the Chelsea Tottenham game LIVE.

FA Website always has brief highlights of all FA Cup games.

To be honest pretty much all football rules are that daft, with silly exceptions for certain people. As for Gulacsi, I never thought he was as bad as people made out. He was very bad at Leeds and very good at Ipswich. At Burnley he was blamed for an epic Hobbs error and IMO (look away now OLM) people had decided it was his fault just because he was Gulacsi. He wasn't a patch on Mannone and I probably preferred Basso too but I don't think he was the liability other people thought. He wasn't going to play again this season so it doesn't matter anyway and if we save money on it then great.

Actually Tickler's post has just reminded me that Boro's winner from Robson should have been a simple save. It was a good shot but right down the middle.

    Afternoon lads, Liverpool fan here.

Just to confirm that we did get approval from the F.A and the loan deal we had in place has now been terminated. He'll now probably be back-up for Brad Jones in the semi which is basically what he was to you for the past few months!

After his Leeds & Burnley nightmares he has been warming the bench for us.

We got Vito Mannone in shortly after the Burnley match on New Years Eve, because Barmby thought his performance was that bad.

Not sure about that. We signed Mannone because Gulacsi got injured at Burnley and Basso got injured in the next game! NB actually picked Gulacsi over Basso for a while after taking over. I think OLM or PT said that Barmby actually preferred Gulacsi to Basso.

He did, though I can't for the life of me figure out why, I thought Basso was the best keeper we'd had for years.

Oh right, i knew he went off in the match with a problem or a slight nick, but i thought it was a minor injury. I thought it was his performances that lead to the change in keeper.

Generally speaking they are fairly clear in normal circumstances. Exceptional circumstances allow normal rules to be bypassed:

    1) A team is left with only 1 senior keeper available for games.
    2) A team is left with only 12 senior outfield players available for games. (eg Pompey being allowed to sign loanees on low/no wages everytime they loaned somebody out to cut the wage bill despite being under a transfer embargo)

I'm not quite sure why Liverpool were granted dispensation to recall Gulacsi though. If they're saying dispensation to sign a player can only be given if it's injuries and not suspensions that have caused the problems, then surely the same rule should apply to recalling your own players from long term deals outside the transfer windows.
