RVP obviously but Song should credit for his role in creating a lot of the goals. He is a class act - with Wilshere back next season that will be a great pairing, both are good at the defensive and attacking side of the game
I think finding midfield players that fit into our system is not easy. Particularly one that upgrades Ramsey, Arteta, Wilshere, Song, Rosicky, and will fit into our system. We need players that can play both sides of the ball. I really doubt Wenger is going to buy a midfielder, unless he thinks Wilshere will not make it back.
Asides from RVP (who should win it), I'd give my vote to Kos. We all thought Vermaelen was brilliant when we first signed him but recently, he's been shaky. Luckily we've had Kos to pick up all the pieces. He's got a lot stronger in such a short space of time and I believe he's one of the first names on the team-sheet at the moment.
In all honesty I'd give it to Szczesny. This time last year he was just potential, on the fringes of the first team. 12 months later and he has cemented his place as Arsenal's no1 for the next decade - a World Class keeper in the making. It wasn't that long ago that people were talking about a GK crisis at Arsenal, now we have one of the very best
Song has offered us very little defensively. He should be judged based on his defensive contributions not the amount of fancy balls he's played over the top. He's a liability.
I don't think it's fair to say RVP has eased off. Against City he hit the post, and had a clear goal saved off the line by OUR OWN PLAYER. Against QPR he hit the post as well, he's just been slightly unlucky, usually those go in, but when that bit off luck goes away, they start hitting posts and getting off the line by your own players.
The amount of 'fancy' balls he's been playing over the top has made him our highest creative assister for goals from the middle of the park, so don't try to downplay his creative play because he has been our best creative man in the middle, and is one of the best overall creative assisters in the premier league, even better than the likes of Modric.
It's not his job to make assists. He should concentrate on protecting our back four - he's not very good at that these days. He seems to think he's Iniesta.
Is it? I seriously do not think that's the case anymore or it's not as clear cut, especially with Arteta in the team. Song keeps going forward and playing passes because maybe Wenger wants him to do that. Song is becoming a CM as every season goes by. Our current midfield trio (Song,Arteta and Rosicky) all work in tandem and cover for each other. Arteta has a good understanding with Song. When you watch the midfield work, its not that straight forward to label each player as one clear thing.
That could be the case but I think Song is better suited to the DM role than Arteta. He was a fine DM a few seasons back, probably the best in the league. He's not very good going forward imo, don't let those fancy assists fool you. He's too slow and sloppy in possession. For every successful ball over the top, there's 7 or 8 unsuccessful ones. Yes it looks good when it comes off, but it's very frustrating when it doesn't, which is most of the time.
The guy has 11 assists to his name. And he does not take free-kicks or corners. He clearly has the technical ability. He keeps developing. Last season he got a few goals and now it's the assists. He is 24 years old and I think he will actually develop into a fine central midfielder.
Don't let assists fool you. He hasn't got the spatial awareness or passing ability to be a top centre mid imo. He's perfect for a DM.
