It's hard to explain to people in the 21st century how much impact releasing a song like "God Save The Queen" in her silver jubilee year had at the time. Seems daft now, but a lot of people, including many in the media, thought the Sex Pistols were a genuine threat to the establishment. They weren't, obviously, but for a while it seemed like they were. Hence anybody who walked around dressed like a punk rocker in 1977 ran a sizeable risk of getting their heads kicked in.
I was a semi kinda punk, I was in London from 1977-1978 when I was 17 and perfect punk material, unfortunately I was in Basic Training at the time and it's hard to be a real punk in the Army, especially with a skinhead.
