    The appeal certainly was!

  3. But he lost nothing because despite the obvious frivolity of the appeal, the ban wasn't increased.
Another victory for the FA Disciplinary Panel - NOT!!

I think it's a good decision by the FA, well done to them for getting the appeal overturned so quickly and ensuring justice (retrospectively) was done. It would have been better had the ref seen it, but at least the FA's correct action means that Chelsea haven't totally got away with the 'Wigan wobbery'.

Well done to the FA. I saw on various sites lots of fans saying Ivanovich would get away with this, and criticisng the FA in advance, well they were wrong and the FA was right.

The Cup tie and our fight with Chelsea for league supremacy just tilted a little in our favour today. How much help it will be, we'll soon find out.

You only needed to watch it once to see what he's done, the appeal lasted a bit longer than the 30 seconds it takes them to watch the video again because they were in bed when Chelsea lodged the appeal.

To be fair the FA are quite good about cracking down on teams that appeal just to try to get the ban to exclude their next game and issue an extra game for frivolous appeals.

Yet Ivanovic didn't get an additional game off, for some reason.
Given that it would be the Newcastle tie, that could actually become quite important.

WE don't know yet who we want to win out of Chelsea and Toon in that game, so it's hard to call whether we want Ivanovich banned or not for it.

I agree ATM, it looks like we want Ivanovich banned, but things can change. I can easily see Wigan beating Toon, for example.

Glad the ban was upheld - as I said earlier he's been one of their most consistent players lately.

But on the other hand it always seems that Chelsea's RB is their reserve one whenever we play them (Ferreira or Bosingwa) and they always have a stormer against Bale.

Annoying - hope that changes this time.

Ferreira got murdered by Bale a while ago, Moorpheus.
He only played the first half and they had to take him off, as he was being ripped to shreds.

It was the April 2010 game, which we won 2-1, a scoreline which flattered Chelsea, in all honestly.
Ivanovic came on for the second half, Terry got sent off (again) and Alex got booked, too.

I would reckon most Chelsea fans would not disagree their best performance was against us at WHL, it was Ashley Cole's only decent performance this season, thing is, even when they're ****e and are there for the taking, they still get the breaks, goals that didn't cross the line, etc etc! <steam> I hope we smash them, to say its long overdue is an epic understatement, I doubt it in this one though, they always raise their game when it comes to playing us. :headbang:

maybe that is our fault because we dont enter the pitch like we will smash them..we enter it in hope...the oppo sees this...sorry but i think we lack balls when we come toe to toe with someone with any kind of reputation.

I think we pissed about with the system for that game, following a good run of results.
    I'll have to check, though.

EDIT: Yeah, that was when we started trying out the 4-2-3-1 or whatever you want to call it.

  13. Certainly supportive of the initial decision of the FA and the quick overturning of the appeal - just wonder what would constitute 'frivolous' if this didn't?

But as you rightly say - the decision has tilted the balance in our favour, so I am certainly not objecting. All we have to do now is take advantage of it.........

You may well be right about AL's contribution that day, i can't recall tbh, but the fact remains FB's have to think twice when he's on the pitch. Even if he's quiet, they know full well one mistake and he's gone, so tend to be a bit more reserved in getting forward. AL's reputation of pace is enough to change the way a FB plays him, thats my point, not formations...players and ALL their attributes.

It's been a contraversial week for the FA so I think they were happy to uphold the decision and let it fly, they don't want that rule being criticised by a manager too.

It seems like 'Arry's foot-in-mouth syndrome is contagious: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17695062

Yes, they're focusing on one small part of the interview and taking it out of context, but thanks for giving them the ammunition for the Chelsea players to get fired up over...

Fair comments NSS, it's true that Lennon's pace will cause defenders to think twice. However the stats show that we are significantly worse with him in the team this season, ppg, than without him. so it doesn't seem that defenders are that worried, or at any rate they are coping with him.

Norwich aren't one of the 'big six' but they coped with him fairly easily, and the perceived threat didn't seem to perturb them that much either.

I thought the FA did a good job here, and far from being pricks I commend them and their decision, and indeed the initial decision by the FA to bring in 'retrospective justice' for such incidents.
