We've offered Snoddy a new contract that would make him the highest paid player at the club (and quite right too) if he signed. Warnock has urged Snoddy to give him one full season to get us into the PL as he wants to build the team around our best player and skipper. Colin said:

"We've offered him a top contract that will make him the highest paid player at the club," said the boss.
"I want him to be our captain next year and I've asked him to give us a year to get Leeds United into the Premier League and if we don't get there at the end of next season, I'll get him there myself because I'll help him and let him go.
"It would be a massive step forward for Rob for him to nail his colours to the mast. I think he loves the club and has a lot of loyalty, and as captain I think he will support us in what we are trying to do.""

Aidy White will also be offered a new deal, while negotiations are ongoing with McCormack and Clayton.
 
Exactly what I thought would happen. Its all eggs in one basket under warnock and his one year plan. There could be a huge mess left to clear up afterwards but lets just hope Bates backs him enough to have a decent crack at it.

Even Bates who I see as a very cautious businessman (if you can use that word, another word that springs to mind is crook) he must see the gamble here. Or is he actually not planning on freeing up much more cash as our stand improvements have set us back a few players at least?

Either way, lets hope the deal is good enough. If we lose another club captain & our probably our best performer it doesn't exactly make us appealing in the transfer market for any player with ambition.

And he deserves it. My worry is its all about next year and being a realist I have seen nothing from Bates that suggests we will have substantial backing & with season ticket sales tied up for the next two years I can only hope that the 'war chest' he banged on about actually exists & were not left with Graysons piss pot.

Kenny its make or break time, back Warnock hes the first manager with credentials we have had to get us out of this league since Sgt Wilko but not a ****ing miracle worker.

Snod said theres been offers turned down from prem clubs for him. I imagine if there's a couple competing his agent could get him at least 20k P/W

If he sees ambition he will sign, if he doesn't I think he will leave. Either way he deserves a new deal hes been excellent for us.

I agree, hopefully it will have a chain effect where if he sees signs of ambition he will sign, causing White, McCormack and Clayton to sign, causing quality players to consider coming and so on.

Hopefully he will be as impressed with Warnock in this short space of time as I have been and take him up on the offer. Warnock maybe gambling on next year but who else would you want to back in that situation?

A massively ambitious overhaul of the squad will definitely happen, otherwise Warnock will leave. Snods may just hold out until after the Chairman's meeting and possibly a signing or two imo but if it happens then I think he'll sign the contract. Snods was pissed off with broken promises, wasn't he, and if Warnock is anything it's honest and genuine. I'm optimistic.

This is a win-win for Bates. Would be good business if he can pull it off.

Sign Snoddy up on a good wage and good contract (4 years at least). If we get promoted, no need to change his contract much. If we don't, then we get a hefty transfer fee.

The other scenario is more risky. Snods is made to stay but runs down his last year. We get promoted, he has done his job and we can offer him a better contract in the Prem. We don't get promoted, he just walks away for nowt. For Bates he has saved on the current year's wages.

The third scenario is he does not sign up and is sold for £3m. Money in the pocket for Bates but much of it will have to be spent on getting other players in.

The first is a no brainer from a business point of view. But it does require Snoddy to sign up.
 
Its strange that something as confidential as a contract negotiation is put into the public domain, yet any other questions raised regarding the finances and running of the club are met with a wall of silence.
So far with this snippet of information we have established that the offer on the table means Snodgrass will pick up something between £14-£20k if he signs, meaning that if he chooses to leave to go to a Premiership side straight away he will be branded a greedy unloyal mercenary and Ken will be able to say "What can i do?, we can't compete with the wages Premiership sides can pay".
Its not the first time Leeds have revealed that a player whos about to leave has been offered a generous salary without actually saying how much the offer was.
