How are we going to attract Hazard? He will pretty much be able to choose from 5-10 massive clubs and for silly money in the summer. Why would he pick us for half the money he can get elsewhere?

Why would anyone leave Barcelona right now?

Llorente is a possibility if we get CL football but again with our wage structure I can't see that happening either.

Hazard is doing a Robinho and whoring himself out and talking up every club under the Sun. I'd rather we got someone a bit more low key.

Not keen on hazard myself, we need to target more low key players, with that potential to be great but already at a standard which would improve the squad, also there is less pressure on low key signings.

Fernando Llorente in this league would look alot like Fernando Morientes did with Liverpool.

    1. Money. 1st team football.

    2. Might not like the heat and fancy his luck in the cold climate of the English game. Plus the fact it's like winning the lottery to get a place in the 1st team at the moment, especially when Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas all play in your position.

    3. Bilbao aren't known for paying excessive wages, if anything I reckon they're wages are pretty low compared to most, so I'm pretty sure we could afford him wage wise, especially with (presumably) dead wood being shifted.

Don't forget, this thread is all about if's. In reality I doubt we'd get Hazard and Thiago but I can dream.

    Mario Gotze it is!

Ivan Perisic, also of Dortmund, looks a decent player as well.

Hazard's made some noise about moving to a club that's at the perfect level for him, where he's basically guaranteed both Champions League football and a place in the first XI.
It remains to be seen how much money would change that and how large his transfer fee will be.
I doubt we'll be signing him, though.

Sign Ben Arfa & Cisse, not only will they improve your team, they will weaken the Mags, bringing a new found love between SAFC and Spurs <ok>

I'd be amazed if Bale left you guys this summer anyway, I rckon at least 1 more season, assuming you clinch 4th (you will, IMO).

    That is not true.

Llorente lacks pace, like Morientes, but in every other aspect (strength, stamina, bottle, mentality etc) he is made for the PL.

He would take the piss playing in a side with Bale, Lennon , VDV etc, he would be an absolute weapon.

Even if he only scored 10-15, he'd have a direct involment in 2 or 3 times that.

I wanted Ba at the start of the year! But i wasn't expecting Ben A to improve so much. Well, I say improve, I mean remain un-broken by clumsy opposition players.

you forget to mention his first touch. that is one of his best attributes and something that'd really help our squad at the moment. - unfortunately, I think we're out of the running for Llorente now. some of the fans have been crying out for him for 18 months, (just like SOS says) ... but his public display in recent weeks against man united has now shown the rest of europe what he's capable of.

we will not be able (or be willing) to pay his transfer fee, and his wages will probably be extortionate.

Spurs don't buy players for 30-35 mill. as someone else said, "we should go Low key"... (i don't personally think we SHOULD go low key, but i bet that's what we end up doing!)

Quite the opposite SOS, they pay better than most in that league to keep their basque players...not seen this then?...5m a year is just shy of 100k/wk.

Sorry Notso, don't read unkown Spanish press articles :p

If that's the case though then fair play, I'm completely wrong and for that reason, we have no chance of signing him :(

Always saw Bilbao as the "Everton of La Liga". On a side note, I really admire Bilbao for their policy in only recruiting/ buying players from the Basque area.

Maybe he'd take a wage cut so he could leave the glorious sunshine of Spain to the wet, cold weekends of England? <whistle>

SOS - <laugh>...I don't read them either, I was watching a La Liga game recently and they mentioned it. <ok>

It is remarkable how they do, with a self imposed small pool of players to chose from.

Never could see him arriving here anyway.

    <cheers>

They tend to tap them up from the other Basque clubs, like Osasuna and Alaves.

I can't respect this whole Basque nation thing.
    Their flag's too ****.
It's like a Union Flag that's been coloured in by a 5 year old.
