Never mind the alleged grieving and over-sensitivity, this club gets special treatment from MOTD Hansen and Lawrenson pick over the incidents from LFC games whilst being fed by Colin Murray, an Northern Irish LFC fan. No other club gets an easy ride like this. No wonder so many brain-dead couch potatoes think LFC are a top club.
No disrespect but they have only got themselves to blame, if they paid for their tickets at the turnstiles this would never of happened, instead some of the fans decided to stampede through like rogue elephants. Death threats are just pathetic, scousers think they are hard and they get defensive over a disaster some of them caused themselves.
I said no disrespect, just my opinion on SOME of their fans not all of them, I'm sure the majority paid for their tickets reasonably and wanted to enjoy the game, but there were certain individuals who decided laws didn't apply to them and they ran through the turnstiles, unforunately it cost the lives of 96 people and nearly 800 of them being severely injured.
But the Hillsborough Justice Campaign have refused the money, which was sent to its PayPal account. Spokeswoman Sheila Coleman said: âIt was insensitive, particularly coming this week, in the run-up to the 23rd anniversary. âIâve spoken to people in our group who are hurt by what he has said. Heâs apologised, but it would be good if he could educate himself as to why itâs caused so much offence. âHe strayed into territory he shouldnât have. People have the right to commemorate their loved ones in whatever way they see fit. âDavies plays Liverpool Empire in September. It doesnât bode well for him for that gig!â read that a couple of times it's ****ing offensive. this group of people are ****s of the highest order fact
Same with Murder she wrote. Why do people keep inviting her places, and why is she never prime suspect? Everywhere she goes someone gets killed it's a bit too coincidental. Liverpool fans want to get in the real world, or are we going to decide that teams don't have to play whenever some fans have died at a game? Off the top of my head do we get to say we don't have to play the day that the young kid died on the way to Barnsley, or that the old guy collapsed in the stands at the KC and later died? What about significant figures dieing, like Needler, do we get the day off on that anniversary as well? We'll soon hit the point where we can't complete a season because one team or another in their history has got some tragedy involving their fans that means we can only play them certain times and they get so convoluted that it becomes impossible.
But 96 people died *in the ground and at the match*........ Many others also injured, countless people bereaved etc Doesn't seem to me to be excessively wallowing in grief.
To declare that they still shouldn't be playing games on that date after all this time is though. Fair enough marking the tragedy, but they should move on with their lives as well. Comparing it to another disaster that's topical, they're marking the sinking of the Titanic by recreating the journey on another cruise ship and they invited a load of the relatives along for the journey. The equivalent response from Liverpool fans would be that it's insulting and insensitive to ask them to get on a ship for that day.
I dont think he meant out by it, IMO it would be a great way to commemortate the loss of 96 people to play your arch rivals in the home of football and get through to the FA Cup final, the 96 would look down in joy at that as they would be achieving something good for the club which the lost their lives supporting. I supose you can look at it both ways though.
i think liverpool should forfeit all games they are due to play on that date out of respect. obviously a 23rd anniversary is an important event. and they should forfeit all games they are due to play on other dates too.
funny how hillsborough never stopped the sensitive (r)souls in the kop from taunting man utd about munich.
As I said, what about 29th May when 39 died at a Liverpool match? Or is that one different because it was Liverpool fans' fault so that it is swept under the carpet and they cant wallow in someone else's mistakes?
With the Titanic sinking, 500 people from Southampton died on the board. Some of them being relatives of people on this forum. I would now like to see Southampton get days off on the 12th April from now on. 500 is larger than 96 Note: I'm not being serious.
This wound me up when i heard it on the news, because i think its more disrespectful not to play tbh, and turning down the money has just disrepected the families even further. Just shows they care more about the reputation of the club than the charity, which is disgusting. 96 who enjoy watching football died and as a "mark of respect" they won't play football
That's one of the classic openings that guarantee contradiction within ten words' time - like "I'm not racist, but..." or (in the case of idiot pundits like Savage) "To be fair..."
I've read the thread on this on the Liverpool board, and what they are saying on there is that it is the families of the 96 who asked the club not to play on the day so that a memorial service could be held, and that the club have acceded to their request. The fans seem to be suggesting that they are simply accepting the club's decision. From the article it also appears that it is the charity that rejected the money, not the club. I don't know whether that's right or not, but just thought I'd para-phrase their view. Whilst it is impossible to imagine what the families went through I think if I was in their position I would want the club to play on the anniversary. As others have said, they lost their lives supporting their club and it's more fitting for the club to put on a performance in their memory. That said, death threats being given to Davies is pathetic in my opinion.
These death threats to this Davies bloke seems pretty stupid, he's not said anything that should offend anyone. Man United still play on the anniversary of the Munich disaster and in a way the best way to commemorate those who lost their lives is to play the game that they loved.
