Evening mate Because the date is in a critical part of the season I do have a problem with it, but only in the respect that it has to affect other teams. We're affected by it this time, their refusal to play Sunday means we don't get to even have the chance to play on a fresh pitch on the Saturday. In my mind, why should we have that disadvantage (slight, but not the point) because of Hillsborough. It was a tragedy as you say, one of a few others all worthy of their rememberance, but Liverpool's shouldn't affect the calendar for anyone else imo.
Very fair comment, and I do take your point about the fresh pitch. Not sure it's down to Liverpool's stance that we are playing at the ludicrous time of 6 o'clock, although I don't suppose you were suggesting it was.
No, the time is irrelevant, its being forced to play on the 2nd day because of it that I'm against. The actual day changes every year obviously, so sooner or later they'll refuse a league game, forcing the opponents an unecessary fixture change. If its on Sunday this year, it could be Saturday next year, so we'll see.
shouldnt we be glad its on sunday and we have got an extra day off to recover and possibly get more injured players back?
Of course we should be Dona. Although I come from an era which believes players should be able to cope with a heavy fixture load. On that theme, I am still struggling to understand why Norwich's energy levels never dropped on Monday, whereas ours never got going.
maybe we turned up with the wrong mindset,as in it will be easy? plus i doubt many players will have clocked up more mileage than the likes of Bale,Walker...who i believe are burnt out..however like yourself i was raised in an era when 'men were men'
Yes, poor babies. Being asked to bust their balls twice a week, and all for a paltry £50,000 p.w. I'm surprised that there isn't a law against it!
am just looking forward to the semi final v the chavs personally... however your doing whats required..well done. but it isnt over yet
I think 3 wins out of 5 for us now will do it. That would leave you needing 5 wins out of 5 (unlikely)
unfortunatley you are right Jayram..you have got the momentum..we are stuttering big time......i wont ever give up on winning all 5 but our last league match should have been a home banker but we choked...so i dont hold much hope for us...QPR are looking good again at home and we got to go there....i hope we get to the cup final and that wakes up the beast in our players.
Spurs have a quality squad but lack the characters needed to compete at the highest level. As a gooner I know all about Gallas and Adebayor (neither are the kind of character you need when things arnt going well) Van Der Vaart has a history of poor behaviour, Modric has already flirted with other clubs and Defoe moans about just about everything. Parker is the only real 'character in your squad'. On top of all that Redknapp is obviously keen on the the England job which can only destablise things. To be fair Arsenal have had the same problem other the last few years.
'character' Bear...that is the key word and almost all the Spurs fans recognise this...very frustrating. i always thought Gallas had alot of passion and desire i quite like him.... Defoe is quite patient considering his game time..i think its the self belief and over respecting that costs us. Mourinhio always creates a siege mentality at every club he goes to..and gets his squad watching each others back. HR is always backtracking verbally and too busy pretending hes already england coach thus always commenting on how great the oppo is. i hardly get the feeling that our boys have come onto the pitch believing that they are going to wallop someone.
Martinez On reports that he will leave the club in the summer: "Not at all. Sometimes you need to find out where the rumours come from. At this crucial time of the season it would be very unfair to look into that. I agreed a new long term contract in the summer. It's never been changed and we will let nothing distract us Harry should have said smthing similar insted of jizzing himself at how honourable the speculation is. the next job for Martinez will be with a big club and he knows it but he also knows how to be respectful and professional.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: " Phil Dowd had a disappointing night, he never got to grip with it." sorry lads i thought Howard Webb was in the starting 11 but it was Phil Dowd..think he might be dropped for the next match
