....over comments he made on a podcast, and now in the newspapers, about the Hillsborough Disaster.

Liverpool say they shouldn't play on the same day 96 people died at Hillsborough. They think that day is for rememberance only. Davies, on the otherhand, thinks they should just play the match on the day. Although, this doesn't mean they can't commemorate the memory of those who died in the Leppings Lane End on that day also.

What does everyone think? Are the Liverpool fans being a bit over the top and showing themselves up as a bunch of namby pamby, media seeking twats by sending the threats? Or are they just?

He's even sent his messages of condolences and offered a substantial amount to the memorial fund, but they're being too pigheaded and not accepting it out of stubborness.

I think he is right in what he says, ie clubs like Rangers, Man Utd, Bradford etc all get on with playing football on the anniversaries of major tragedies of their respective clubs, so why can't Liverpool?

    The death threats are pathetic.

I think he is spot on. I know it's a tragedy but how long are they going to morn? They should pay their respects by playing imo. They want to feel special with it, stand out when there has been many tragedies like it in football. Either way he's entitled to his opinion, i listened to it and I don't think he was completely disrespectful...

There is nothing Liverpudlians like doing more than wallowing in tragedy and self-pity. Yes even more than the other obvious cliches.

On another note, would a merseyside derby with both sets of fans at Wembley doing some kind of amazing, moving pictorial display in the stadium not be the best possible commemoration?

I think anybody should be able to say anything they want. At the same time everyone else has the right to be offended by it.

exactly, why not play football and do something special on the shirts and in the stands, that would be so much better.

He's said nothing wrong as far as I can see.

To send death threats is pathetic to say the least.

Jonathan Creek was a bit ****, but I'm not sure it warranted death threats.

I thought it was all right but i was young when it was on and i liked that sort of thing.

Now i see it again i just think, how can every criminal, who these come into contact with, be well trained to perform houdiniesque escape acts. It does seem to be like that every episode.

Back on the subject. Do Liverpool fans mourn the victims in the Heysel Disaster?

agreed, they often make a big deal how that derby is one for the families of 2 clubs from one city sitting side by side etc, what better occasion to send a message out...

Hypothetical situation to consider - Liverpool reach a champions league final (it could happen...) scheduled for 29th May. Do they play? Course they do.

Can't have it both ways if you ask me.

I posted this on the Liverpool board, and they don't seem to understand why I think they are pathetic. No other club gets the treatment Liverpool do when it comes to tragedies.
