  3. When Harry Enfield wrote and performed his "curly-haired, moustachioed scouser" sketches, I always thought they were exaggerations invented for comedic purposes. I never once imagined that, in fact, he wasn't writing comedy, but social commentary, gleaned from real-life observations.

    Depends if you want to be in Europa League if CL does not pan out. If Everton do not win the cup, Europa qualification will go down to 6th, otherwise only 5th. Not that I am nervous about being in the top 5 <yikes>

    Easy - they knock out the Losers, we knock out the Chavs, then get revenge for the '95 semi final.

    Well, it's a plan...

    Ugh, can you imagine how unbearable they'll be for the weeks between the semi and the final?

    We should also demand the date of the final be moved due to May 5th marking a tragic day in our history - the birth of Craig David...

    Let's concentrate in beating the Chavs first. We can worry about the final afterwards.

    The Losers are up in arms, after Alan Davies asked why they don't play on the anniversary of Hillsbrough (transcript and quotes in context here)

    Now, as I pointed out in another thread way back when, other clubs to befall tragedies - such as Bradford, Torino, Juventus, Manchester United, Spartak Moscow, Rangers - have played on the anniversary of whichever incident cost the lives of numerous players or fans, yet in Liverpool's case they demand fixture be moved each and every time.

    I totally agree with Alan Davies, Hillsborough is this Sunday, so why did they have a minutes silence for it last weekend aswell?

  13. There is something in the Scouse mentality that always has to be crying over something.

    If the FA told Liverpool to play on the date given or forfeit the match, maybe then they'd stop clinging to the memory of Hillsborough so obsessively.

    I can only assume it was because it was the home game which is closest to the date of the tragedy.

    Personally, I don't have a problem with Liverpool FC not wanting to play on the anniversary of Hillsborough and I also don't have a problem with the FA respecting their wishes.

    <ok>

    Totally agree, but do think the FA should have seen to it that other clubs do not suffer because of it.

    Maybe just cancel the game and award the 3 points to LFC's opponents if it means that much to them? Doubt if it does though :p
