They aren't sitting at home, they are at the memorial service, as I've previously posted here. With the Liverpool squad and management team.

The FA are free to put the semi-final against Everton on Sunday the 15th of April if they want to, just don't expect the Liverpool team or fans to be actually there.

Is it because you cannot change your name back for a month?

How is playing and winning against your old enemy not more of a memorial than laying a flower at a candle? They were football fans. Being a football fan i know how i'd rather have my team remember me. Are you sure its not just a way to highlight AGAIN in the Media that this happened instead of quietly and respectfully going about your business?

A huge memorial service takes place on 15th at Anfield. Bit hard for them to play at home during a memorial service, hypothetically if they had a home game. They choose not to play on that date, so I don't personally see the issue.

Funny how all the GC lot turn up at the same time, organised wumming <doh>

If I was LFC I would beg for a game on that date. Cant think of a better way to remember football fans than to play for there memory.

Alan Davies is not a comedian either, whoever told you this is a liar. Comedians are funny.

Other clubs have had just as bad tragedies but still play on the anniversary of said event.

Rangers lost dozens of people due to slippery steps and Hearts lost a whole team in the war yet they play on the dates.

What's so ****ing special about Liverpool? Oh, that's right. You ****s have a monopoly on grief.

I'd like to ask how i have been in anyway "wumming", i've mearly pointed out that as a football fan (as i'm positive the 96 were) i would rather my team played and won for my memory than attend a memorial service. In no way have i said anything bad about the tragedy or 96?

You would be banned from participating in the FA cup, risk expulsion from the Premier League and being removed from the Football League.

Liverpool have an agreement like all clubs that they will fulfil their required fixtures.

Harsh but the world stops for no man, woman or team.

Well that makes more sense that what Davidako came out with.

Potentially, taking Wembley and this particular game out of the equation, could you not do both?

As i have asked.......how have i "wummed". I havent just mentioned this game. Fair enough the FA moved it because of trains. I'm just saying as a football fan i know how i'd rather be remembered. is that such a bad thing to say?

You don't play because you want everyone to feel sorry for you.

The problem is UIR the families do not want Liverpool to ever play on that date as it would mean there would be no memorial. LFC have let the families lead on everything to do with Hillsborough, which has been the right thing to do.

Its a shame topics like this become a breeding zone for petty insults etc.

There is a discussion to be had here, is it right or wrong to play on the date of a tragedy?

Thread will soon be closed though.

But - and i'm being serious - would it not be more respectful to see your team play, and play well - like i'm sure the 96 loved more than anything - than simplying having a memorial service?

if this is the case then i agree to it. thats all i wanted to know. i just know if it happened to me my family would want them to play for me. Surely you see where i'm coming from? But if thats what they want then i'm glad you respect it

Like I said, its a difficult subject to talk about on here but would it not be possible to do both. Try for a late kick off if it falls on that date, memorials in the AM and the game ( along with quite possibly the greatest atmosphere ever seen at anfield ) in the PM. Played in honour of the 96.

This is football after all, the sport that stopped a war....if only for a second. What a way to remember the 96.

My opinion of course and I could never imagine how the families feel.

The flip side is that it is very honourable what LFC are doing in terms of giving the families the lead.
