This comment seems to have been lost among all others, but its perhaps the most sensible one on here.

Typical, you should perhaps take note.

I (and perhaps the other 'nays' on here) can perfectly understand the fascination behind the Olympic spectacle. I have many friends who have no interest in football, and attempting to explain to them why I spend thousands of pounds a year to go and watch 22 men in shorts running around a field of grass on a Saturday is pretty difficult. It must be the same for you with us and the Olympics.

Yet having no interest in the Olympics does not make us unpatriotic or any other insult you have thrown out there, ignorant perhaps yes as personally I've never been to an Olympics, but that does not stop me from being permitted to comment on my displeasure at them being staged here.

I can see why people are excited about the Olympics, but quite simply they're not for me.

Having little interets is soooo diffrent from bitching about the persoanal inconvienience which are the posters that I am targeting and really makes my piss boil!

My point has remained the same. Others have tried to distance themselves by hiding behind speculation, prediction and rumour. I have not insulted anyone merely questioned their motives. My cousin is blind, there was no such thing as paraolympics in his day. Shall I tell him that the olympics are off because people who he goes cafc with think that it all a waste of time and no worthy of them moving their cars.

If someone can come up with a cogent sustainabke arguement against the olympics that is not based on personal interferance then do so. If any of you have proper evidence that these games are going to be a failure then bring it on. The thread provided by AHH gives a balanced view if naything it proves me right. I would love to know your views on a world cup all you lot were wetting yourself silly over it when it was banded about previously but because you have nothing to offer on the olympics you want to slaughter it.

This country needs to show the world its not all about chavs and slags. Our youth can run without JD shoeboxes in their hands and what better way they in an olympics. It is sooooo unpatriotic not to support an attemot by a nation to better itself. Did china mugg itself off of Australia? No they have national pride.

I'm wondering if the 60 per cent of Nays are the same 60 per cent who wanted Hamer dropped ??!!

Must admit, can see both sides of the fence, but an Olympics in our country/city/town doesnt come aloing every year - bring it on ! - i'm just a bit pissed off that they have delayed one of the Test Matches because of the Olympics, but then again for Heathens like Haysey  that dont like Cricket they prob dont care. ! PS.I dont anything to do with Essex either ! and X-Factor you can stick it where the sun doesnt shine - along with all the other talentless talent shows. There you go , rant over.

    Hamer for England !

Front page of tonight's standard says tourist flock to capital for summer of sport and celebration. Biggest influx of tourist since turn of century.Oh dear seems that it's only the cafc road parking gang that aren't up for the Olympics.

I must admit, the car parking situation was one of the more petty reasons, but, Typical, some of the Nay reasons were valid, however i also agreed with most(not all) of your comments. Can you hang on while i get the splinters out of my arse!
Must admit, its going to be an incredible year of sport, what with...
Olympics and also Olympic flame too
    Euros
Cricket between no 1 (England) and 2 (South Africa)- and also Australia and Windies touring.
    Cricket 20/20 World Cup
    Ryder Cup
    Charlton in the Champs

I feel like there's something else i've missed

Please notice i didnt include Wimbledon in the list !

Tell you what Typs, we'll watch the Brazilian Beach Volleyball and the Bulgarian Weightlifting, and the others can bugger off to Croatia or watch x-factor and Trisha after they've found somewhere to park -its their prerogative !

Bring it on - its gonna be amazing - cant wait !!!!

    As pointless as Greco-Roman Wrestling?

For anyone to have a pop at a sport with as much beauty, skill and humility as Cricket just shows they know nothing about the sport - but hey, each to their own.

I can't understand how anyone can be interested in standing around in a field, waiting on the off-chance that a ball may come flying in your direction, or watching a sport where people just stand around in a field, waiting on the off-chance that a ball may come flying in their direction. But like Stu says, each to their own. Give me football any day though...in fact give me just about any sport before cricket <laugh>

My great-grandfather was South East England Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion and Kent Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling Champion. <ok>

Thought I'd just throw that in...

Nout wrong with a bit of cricket. Love sitting in the stands at the oval, sun shining, beer in hand etc.

    Good times!

WWOCB, sorry mate, but your comments show that you, like Ponders, know nothing about Cricket. For things that i know nothing about i tend to keep my gob shut - that way i dont make a prat of myself (but it doesnt always happen that way though!)

    The BEST times.

I've told my son that when i depart this world i want half my ashes spread on the turf at Lords and the other half at The Valley - as they are the places that have provided me with the most wonderful and memorable sporting times of my life.
