There is no way on earth that Man Utd vs Liverpool can even be compared to El Classico

Yes there's a ton of history between the two sides, lots of hatred amongst rival fans and both teams happen to have won the most titles.

But El Classico has all of those ingredients plus many more that make it a much bigger match than Man Utd vs Liverpool. It is a match between the two best teams in the league, two real CL contenders and two of the best players in the world are rivals in this fixture.

    Need I say more?

Liverpool vs Man Utd will be watched by more people World Wide than Barcelona vs Real Madrid.

Man Utd have more fans than any other club and Liverpool aren't a million miles behind.

At least half of the rivalry between Barca and Real is political. Spanish vs Catalan nationalism, the legacy of Franco, the political identities of the two regions. The Utd - Liverpool rivalry is pure football.

The sheer number of players to move between Barca and Real since Chisnall went from Utd to Liverpool indicates that the pure football rivalry is not as strong in El Clasico.

El classico>el plastico all day long.

El plastico is a provincial affair with a few Norweigans and Thais thrown in.

The whole world watches EL C, not just Latins

Man Utd are a bigger club han Real and Barcelona combined.

Barcelona were barely spoken about until 5 years or so ago.

LOL. We've got our share of plastics too now, as will City in the future too.

Pool were the plastic club in the 80s.

I guess United had their share of George Best plastics in the 60s. But they probably went to more games than the legions of plastic 80s Scouse

Gtf nobhead,80's games were pay at the turnstiles so there were more locals able to attend games without having to buy season tickets or buy tickets online etc, just as it was at OT pre Fergie when the vast majority of the match attending fans were locals.

What about all the Southern softies who cherrypicked Liverpool as the best team in the 80s (generally as they had no mates to go to their local club with) and never went to matches. They must be gutted now, if they had been born a few years later they'd all be United fans!

So did every club have supporters that were entirely local apart from us and United back then?

Chelsea had a good following around teh country even in the 70s and 80s but nowhere near the number of plastic Pool or Leeds say.
