It is FA cup semi final also a derby, local pride at stake here.Everton have something to prove against Liverpool.Liverpool were unable to see Sunderland this season, but Sunderland were unable to beat Everton this season.Everton beat Sunderland in the league and FA cup.Away to Sunderland they were able to get a point and Liverpool lost. I know this is football and it does not work as I have stated above, but I am of the opinion that Everton are going to come to Wembley with determination knowing that they are playing Liverpool their local rival. Liverpool without the first and second choice goalkeeper is going to encourage Everton to attack in all fronts especially set pieces for they are going to see our keeper as the weak link. Do we play counter attacking football.? Comments:
With Jones playing, we need Agger starting. Hopefully he's ready after the last two sub appearances - same applies for Johno too, but he's only had 60mins. Enrique's had a good rest lately, he should be sharp and ready. Skrtel is a machine and doesn't need a rest, he'll be up for it. ------------Jones------------- -Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique- -Henderson-Spearing-Shelvey- ------Maxi--------Suarez----- -----------Carroll------------- For me, Carroll deserves his start, Maxi also, same for Shelvey and Henderson. Suarez will link up will with Maxi and Spearing allows Shelvey to push up and support like he did against Blackburn. Hendo played well and we'll need his energy against Everton. Young and pacy defence/midfield means we can push higher and protect Jones a bit better as well as allowing Shelvey/Hendo to help out support the attacks. Besides, imagine at 50mins if things are tight and you have Gerrard/Bellamy/Kuyt/Downing all ready to bring on! Chances of this team starting against Everton: 1/10
Given the general sillyness infecting some of the threads this afternoon, I'm tempted to reply: M62 -M6 - M1 - M25 - North Circular Road
Dave you are a sea man..you do not seem to know what is going on in the land, but please do not take the turn of South Circular Road.
Look up the Oxford English Dictionary. Reference the word APPROACH. Then apply what you have read to the title of this thread. Oh my, what have we done to education?
------------Jones -Kelly-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique -Gerrard-Spearing-Maxi- -Kuyt----Carroll-----Suarez This formation is more a 4-1-2-3 with Spearing playing midfield anchor allowing Maxi & Gerrard to bomb forward
When I lived in London I'm sure that I was the basis for the Dire Straits line "South of the River you stop and hold everything" 'cause whenever I went South I was truly lost!
When I was trying to learn Astral Navigation, I was so bad at it that the instructor tried to comfort me by saying "well at least you found the right ocean!" Now satnav and a gps are wondrous things
it was tough but we need experience, we need to make this FA Cup final. Shelvey on for Spearing and swapping positions with Gerrard on the hour
We gotta be **** hot on defending set pieces, if they try and block the keeper on corners etc, put a player directly in front of " the blocker" (ie. block the blocker) My tactics would be press them high up, high defensive line as I wouldnt play Carra, 1 2 touch football espec in the final 3rd, keep the ball on the floor.Get Suarez on the ball
We were complimented on how calm and clean our last derby was, with no red cards. So... I expect heat! and I can see a sending off coming some where. Because of this I would get a good balance of experience in the team. I say, make sure the midfield and defence is strong, and allow Suarez some freedom. But be careful, I can see the Everton team targeting Suarez, trying to wind him up and tempt him to dive etc.
