Well that's how I read it - "Without saying too much we're too predictable.....passing not probing....not many goals since the turn of the year (and what did that coincide with I wonder?).... too many games played has caught up with us (ie squad not rotated)".

    http://www.thisishullandeastriding....t-play-fight/story-15779982-detail/story.html

I rubbished some of the Fryatt rumours on here recently but I have to say I'm starting to think otherwise. Particularly the 'Without saying too much' and 'turn of the year' comment, that suggests to me there is a lot to say / has been said and he couldve said 'not many goals this season' but he didnt.

I'm sure others will disagree, obvs.

I'm not exactly keen on Fryatt but I can't really see anything in that.

I'd hate to be the modern day footballer - every single word is put under the magnifying glass and you can't even move house or simply face facts about your team's poor form without coming under some level of scrutiny.
Then again - I'd hate to be the modern day anyone <laugh> football is the same as everything - you're better off not even speaking.

he also mentioned something about squad not big enough in the BBC interview I believe?

the way i see it, whatever he says/thinks, like any footballer, it's his job, he's a Professional (I hope), and he gets on with it till he stops getting paid or gets a better offer. I think this 'so snd so isn't happy' theory could possibly apply to anyone who works for anyone. I cannot be anything more than cynical about public comments from footballers or managers anymore. There's no such thing as loyalty. It's just a job?

Good to hear a bit of honesty from the lad rather than pretending everything was rosy

Thought that was a good interview.

Refreshing not to have a player spouting the same old cliches, and Fryatt was honest enough to highlight some of the issues we've had as a team.

That said, not sure what the club will think of some of his wording, ie, "...without saying too much, I think we became a little too predictable"

I think it's pretty obvious Matty doesn't think the lone striker role suits him and I would tend to agree. However, I think he has been professional in going about his performances. Yes he has been frustrating at times but so have most of our team, he is the best forward we have at the minute though.

I would not be surprised to see Fryatt, McLean & Simpson all been available for transfer in the summer.

That's precisely my point, it's not the other parts it's the gentle alludes he makes - "without saying too much" really does suggest there is a lot extra to say about what has gone on behind closed doors.

Sounds like you're jumping to conclusions and moaning about anything.

After a promising start to the season and seeing it slip away from them in March, you'd be slightly disappointed. I'd say it's the right reaction. Fryatt's not having a pop at Barmby he's saying we all need to look at ourselves and do better next season given the chance of a promotion push. He might not know the whole story abou why we didn't sign someone in January. That could have been kept secret from everyone apart from the Allams, Barmby and Pearson.

I think Matty thinks he should have scored more which is very honest of him. You can see why Barmby always says they're honest

Pity Nick's not as honest in his interviews though.

I suspect that people are reading far more into this than in necessary. There are disagreements in every changing room. We have just been on a losing streak and everyone in the team will have had their own opinion on how things could/should have been changed if at all.

I take issue with this - yes I might be jumping to conclusions, as I said that's just how I read it, but as someone who interviews people for a living I do have a little experience of these things. However I'm not moaning at all - how is there even a whiff of a 'moan' in what i said?

Assuming he's off back to Nuneaton area, that's 5 hrs a day travelling to Cottingham.

Obviously his missus can't help when she drops, but the general timing of all of this (less than a month from the end of the season), it sort of smacks with a 'come and get me' message to the Midlands area clubs.
    Hope I'm wrong.

You couldnt have summed up my thoughts better if you'd tried. As I said on the thread yesterday about him moving, how many wives would want their husband travelling 5 hours a day just after she drops and has another 2 kids in tow?

Might have to be a hotel job for Matty then. If he is staying put.

Mind you Browny used to travel from Cheshire all the time to Hull when he was here.

Ive just got an odd, sneaky suspicion he might go to Wolves. Dont ask me why, but they'll be looking to rehsape their squad after relegation.

Would love an Ebanks-Blake swap, he'd suit our style I reckon!

Fryatt is right though. We are far too predictable these days. No small wonder we don't win many games or score goals much anymore.

If he won't mix it up, then the style and tactics of our 'slick passing routine' need to alter none the less to make us more dangerous.

We are going to need forwards with better movement and midfielders (a Koren Clone?) who can pass the ball forwards incisively or it will never work.

No he didnt. He had a house in Ferriby and lived there most of the week. He used to go home at weekends. (referring to Brown.)
